2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

I noticed a break in our crazy weather today and headed out at 1.40pm with a tailwind of 35mph or so and a double rainbow ahead of me, luckily I only caught the edge of the rain and was flying along! It was mild and wild but the 55mph winds from Storm Jocelyn were gone and the wind was forecast...

After 8 days off the bike I managed to grab an opportunity to get out today, I woke to a couple of inches of snow and thought my chances were little to none! I looked at the forecast and it was showing rain/sleet/snow until around midday and only a 10% chance of precipitation from 1pm onwards...

After a week off the bike it was so good to get out again and it was a lovely day to boot, a chilly NE wind greeted me though and it was around 25mph! On my last couple of rides my cranks were slipping now and again and I was pretty sure it was due to wear in the freehub, I had the same problem...

It was a pretty murky day today and we had a 15-20mph easterly wind blowing but what a ride it was, I picked the perfect route to take advantage of the easterly wind! I set off in a NE direction down into Falkirk and took the awesome back road to Bonnybridge and then on to Denny where the...

Thank you Patricia, it was pretty crazy but we got off lightly here! The NE of the country was hit hard and people have lost everything, my heart goes out to everyone affected!:( I hope all goes to plan with the hip replacement!

After almost a week of insane weather I finally managed to get out and it was a glorious day, this was my first Sunday ride for almost a month so that made me very happy!:D I was fully expecting floods but only came across one which really surprised me! I used the stairs, I was thinking about...

Monday seems to be puncture day... Last month I cycled over the Forth bridge and couldn't see a thing for fog so with light winds forecast today it was the perfect day to do it again! It was a chilly day so I had 4 layers on this time, only 4C when I set off at 9.40am but it didn't feel too bad...

There are actually 7 bridges over the Forth already... 😛 They are currently building a temporary bridge next to the Kincardine bridge as they need to work on the old bridge to stop it from sinking, it was built in 1936!

A nice day for a recovery ride, I did make the mistake of telling my sisters I would drive them to our local park in the morning though as that's when the weather was at its best! Its certainly getting colder now, we have gone from 16C to single digits now but I don't mind the cold! So I set off...

Its a rare occurence these days but easily fixed thanks to the mid drive, just like fixing a puncture on a standard bike! It took a matter of minutes, I didn't time it... 😂

Last night I had a good look at all the flooded areas after we had a months worth of rain in 24 hours, the east of the country seemed to fair better so that was my choice! With all the crazy weather we have been having I decided I would go for a big ride today as the forecast was looking...

Not much choice here, if I didn't go out in windy weather I would be stuck indoors a lot! ;) I'm a poor pensioner so its not gonna happen I'm afraid! 😂

You know if it looks steep on camera, it's STEEP  I'm knackered after watching that...😂 What a place though, truly spectacular!👌 We had almost 40 hours of incessant rain here, it finally stopped a couple of hours ago! I'm hoping to do a nice ride tomorrow in light winds for a change, 10%...

@Chargeride The rain started about 2 hours after I got home and it hasn't stopped since, the haggis is sleeping through it... 😂 @Prairie Dog What a spectacular ride, not my terrain but it sure was worth it for those incredible views!👌I'm glad your weekend weather is promising, I hope you have a...

A nice bonus ride today, amazingly I woke up to dry roads and looked at the lastest forecast and it was showing dry weather until mid afternoon! A far cry from yesterdays forecast which was showing heavy rain for most of the day... It was a blustery day with winds around 30mph from the SW so I...

Cool, a 3rd battery really does give you peace of mind and lessens the range anxiety! I take 3 everytime I'm going for a century ride now as it gives me the option to extend my ride if time allows, on my last ride I did 85 miles and was thinking about going for a century but I only had 2...
