If nothing else, spray the screen and controller seams and cable ports with CRC 808 Silicon spray or something similar - it'll help stop water ingress. Cover your front rotor for obvious reasons.

    Giant tubeless system experiences

What size Surly Extra Terrestrial? Must be the 46, as 2.5 won't fit the chainstays... I got 3000km out of the stock G-One rear tyre before it wore thin & started getting punctures (two in one commute recently, the second not from anything stuck in the casing). I put a Schwalbe Big Ben Plus 2.0...

    QUICK E 2018 - rear wheel removal

As with any bike, switch the derailleur clutch off and push the cage forward to create enough chain slack when lifting and replacing the wheel. Only complication is minding you don't damage the screen if you're tipping the bike to change the tube.

Will ebikes really lead the EV revolution?

New Zealand isn't that different to US - a nation of car-owners that are actually owned by their cars. People that sit in their cars in congested cities think that building bigger roads is the only answer, when in fact a car is a terrible way of getting around a city, as anyone with an...

Do air suspensions really need full servicing every 250 - 500 miles?

Air spring forks rely on a wet seal around the air shaft piston. If you never service the fork you can expect the piston seal to wear out more quickly and the air chamber will need refilling often. A little Slickoleum on the orings and seals once a year or two will prevent a lot of grief. Coil...

Do air suspensions really need full servicing every 250 - 500 miles?

I'm a long time mtber who does own servicing down to damper level. I'd recommend annual fork and shock servicing, even if you're only riding on the road. Replacing the bath lubricant in fork lowers, cleaning and lubricating the fork seals is an easy job and wil extend the life of the seals as...

Will ebikes really lead the EV revolution?

Just wait until climate change really kicks in, and gas prices really start to pinch... Down under the perpetual drought and raging bush fires are making people realise the time to act is now...

Will ebikes really lead the EV revolution?

Infrastructure is the key to growth of cycle commuting - Utrecht, a city of only 330,000 people, spent 110.5 million euro on cycling infrastructure including 40 million euro on bike parking. They have a 12,500 bike garage below ground next to the central train station, which is being expanded to...

    Removing Chainring? 2019 Explore E+1

Use grease or anti-seize on those taper interfaces - I've had to cut cranks off before that were dry assembled (cranks had poor self-extraction threads to be fair, which stripped out pretty quick). Absolutely no need to take the spider off as Jayvee noted; the chainring is easily replaced with...

I like the look of the 2.15" Schwalbe Marathon Almotion V-Guard but couldn't find them anywhere at a reasonable price, so ended up buying the 2" Schwalbe Big Ben Plus for $35NZ. I find the G-One 2.25 a bit too soft in the sidewalls when cornering hard, I can feel them squirming and deforming, so...

I read Robert Pirsig when I was about 20 and realised you don't have to be a great chef to bake a cake; you just need the right mindset. Zinn & the Art of Bicycle Maintenance has traded on the same world view since 1996...

I can make a new chain skip on a new cassette if I stand up and hammer on the 11T cog on a hill. An ebike is putting a equivalent amount of torque on those wee cogs... Two good reasons for spinning a higher cadence - chain wrap is greater on bigger cassette cogs (less chance of skipping), and...
