A cast wheel with a heavy rider is a recipe for bent wheels and nothing more. Thick 12G/13G spokes on a 36-spoke rear wheel will do the trick just fine, and larger tires (>2 in./50C) would be helpful, too.

I think that the issue is primarily that you're riding a 20MPH ebike. If you were riding an IZIP E3 Dash or the Diamondback Trace EXC Bike (both basically the same bike and both capable of 28MPH), you'd see your increased pedal input mirrored with additional power all the way up to 28MPH...

Does your CrossCurrent have rear cargo/pannier rack mounts? I saw a black CrossCurrent in-person a month ago and it didn't have any braze-ons for mounting a rack; not on the seat stays nor near the rear axle. I thought that was a bit strange.

Do you have any performance measurements of the 0.27mm lamination vs. the older, thicker lamination? I know Justin at ebikes.ca has some really good hub motor testing equipment. I'd love to see some data from either MAC or from ebikes.ca to show the performance gains from the thinner laminations.

Doesn't the MAC support higher discharge current than the Bafang geared hub motors, though? I think I heard of some guy on Endless Sphere who's been running just under 2000W on his MAC and he hasn't had any reliability issues whatsoever. Yes, it's only if kept at 100% charge state for a long time. If you charge your bike to 100% right before going on a ride, that will extend your battery's cycle life versus keeping it fully charged at all times.
