Wish your Turbo S had front suspension?

How is a front suspension fork 2-3X the cost? The suspension stem costs $140. There are really high quality air forks out there that are $199.

48v or 52v battery for current BBSHD builds

I've owned both retail ebikes and DIY ebikes. I recently bought a BBSHD and a 52V shark pack battery from Lunacycle and it's been very reliable, and my 13.5Ah Luna battery gives me way more range than the 8.7Ah pack that came with my retail ebike did, so I hardly ever ride my old ebike anymore...

    New manufacturer? FLX

I rode a pre-production FLX Trail model. Seemed like a decent bike for the price. Since I rode it, though, some of the specs/components were changed to lower-spec versions. Specifically, the front suspension fork on the Trail was originally supposed to be a nice Epixon air fork but was later...

Recommendations for the most bang for the buck bike under $1,500?

The Juiced Riders CrossCurrent is probably the best bang-for-your-buck ebike nowadays, although the Rad City is pretty strong in that department, too.

    Electric Bike Weight Ratings

A cast wheel with a heavy rider is a recipe for bent wheels and nothing more. Thick 12G/13G spokes on a 36-spoke rear wheel will do the trick just fine, and larger tires (>2 in./50C) would be helpful, too.

    Rad city.

The CrossCurrent is likely a superior climber than the RadCity because the CC has a geared hub motor, whereas the RadCity has a direct-drive hub motor that is more efficient at higher speeds but dreadfully inefficient when climbing at lower speeds. The CC likely produces a lot more torque at the...

Ortlieb Panniers 25% off at REI

Wow, thanks for the tip! It's pretty big news when Ortlieb panniers go on sale!

    Rider's effort inconsequential

I think that the issue is primarily that you're riding a 20MPH ebike. If you were riding an IZIP E3 Dash or the Diamondback Trace EXC Bike (both basically the same bike and both capable of 28MPH), you'd see your increased pedal input mirrored with additional power all the way up to 28MPH...

Crosscurrent - Suntour vs Frank fork

Does your CrossCurrent have rear cargo/pannier rack mounts? I saw a black CrossCurrent in-person a month ago and it didn't have any braze-ons for mounting a rack; not on the seat stays nor near the rear axle. I thought that was a bit strange.

0.27mm Thichness Motor Stator Laminations - MAC Motor

Do you have any performance measurements of the 0.27mm lamination vs. the older, thicker lamination? I know Justin at ebikes.ca has some really good hub motor testing equipment. I'd love to see some data from either MAC or from ebikes.ca to show the performance gains from the thinner laminations.

0.27mm Thichness Motor Stator Laminations - MAC Motor

Doesn't the MAC support higher discharge current than the Bafang geared hub motors, though? I think I heard of some guy on Endless Sphere who's been running just under 2000W on his MAC and he hasn't had any reliability issues whatsoever. If that's true, then a MAC at 1500W would be more reliable...

    RadWagon as Minivan

I was up in Seattle visiting family the other day and came across a RadWagon serving as a minivan! (I blurred out their faces since they didn't know they were being photographed.) I wonder how the dog was going to ride home with them?

Possible to make an Ebike go 75+ mph?

You'll want a 100V system with a 100A controller. You'll need some seriously thick wiring to handle that kind of discharge current, and your battery will either have to be LiPo (prone to fires, hard to charge properly) or will have to be composed of 20A/25A/30A 18650 cells, which are expensive...

Crosscurrent (original) for $980.33 on Amazon

The only seller I'm seeing is one with the username "Please Contact me before buy. angie[at]7-email.com". Sounds like a scam to me. If it's too good to be true...

How to properly break in a new electric bike battery and extend its life

Yes, it's only if kept at 100% charge state for a long time. If you charge your bike to 100% right before going on a ride, that will extend your battery's cycle life versus keeping it fully charged at all times.

How to properly break in a new electric bike battery and extend its life

It's okay to ride it immediately after charging. You might consider putting your hand on the battery case. As long as it's not hot-to-the-touch, it's ready to ride. Besides, the only batteries that would be hot-to-the-touch after charging would be batteries using some kind of proprietary...

Something New Coming From Rad Power Bikes.

At first I was a bit disappointed by the design of the RadCity because I feel its specs aren't as impressive as the Juiced CrossCurrent and I think the RadCity is a really ugly bike, however, it's very difficult to mount a rear cargo rack on the CrossCurrent (no M4/M5 braze-ons near the rear...

    Cross Current Air - $995 S-pedelec

This is huge! I'm so impressed by what Juiced Bikes has been coming up with. Just the other day, Rad Power Bikes (which must be considered Juiced's #1 competitor given their respective pricepoints) announced its new RadCity bike, and its specs aren't even as good as the CrossCurrent that was...
