Where To Vacation With Paved Bicycle Trails, E-Bike Rentals & Nearby Lodging?

I noticed that cars and trucks around Stehekin had license plates dating back to the early 60s. Apparently the state has no interest in wielding its power there. I'm guessing the roads are maintained by the Forest Service or National Park Service.

    E-Bikes On Legal, Paved Trails

Wondering whether the people of Greensboro and High Point ever tried to get cigarette brands named after them?

Thoughts on the Veer 2 speed belt drive train?

I have the Nexus 7 speed, and like it much better than a derailleur (bike is an Ariel Rider C class).

    Right of way question

Recently I was pedaling down a bike lane in Bellingham, when a biker came toward me in my lane (don't know whether it was ebike or acoustic). I yielded by moving out into the auto traffic lane, because otherwise we would have collided. I don't know what the other rider would have done, or...

Pumping up Presta / Does Anyone Else Have This Problem?

I have a small capacity pump which is designed to not let any air escape whether attaching or detaching from the valve. It does work. If I remember correctly, I got it to inflate air suspension boosters on a camper, which have such small capacity you can't afford to lose any air when you detach...

What to adjust after raising handlebar height?

Wow. Thanks, I didn't even know these guys existed. Not sure whether I need them though. Well, maybe. Not yet.

SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

Lived in Portland until 10th grade; never saw weather like that, though plenty of rain and occasional arctic outbreaks pouring down the Columbia gorge, where it would get incredibly cold and ice everything up.

What to adjust after raising handlebar height?

Your comment re physical therapist makes me wonder whether such a person could help a rider achieve optimum comfort. Might be an interesting area for a PT to specialize in. I'm not aware of anyone who does this, at least not around here (Bellingham).

Anyone want to discuss solar/ebike applications?

Ha ha--just a thought: "watt hog" would be a good name for a bike that really sucks the electrons.

Biking to Work Isn’t Gaining Any Ground in the US

Perhaps a suggestion to your factory's management could get some protected bike storage installed. Might encourage fellow employees to bike to work. Maybe you and like-minded people could help install it.

    Cycling Shorts?

No, the only advantage I've gained from old age is not having to zip my fly if I don't feel like it, or don't remember to.

How do i make my rear rack / basket more shock absorbing for food delivery?

I was in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, a few years ago, and was interested in how the numerous dirt bikes fared on the cobblestone streets. You could see the front suspension (which obviously had extreme range of motion) working constantly. Looked as though the riders had a reasonably smooth...

    Cycling Shorts?

I tried wearing shorts one time, but my legs are so unattractive that a petition was gotten up asking me not to do that.

Question about Tongsheng PAS levels and smooth pedaling- SOLVED!

No, I have noticed no clunkiness at lower PAS levels; in fact, mostly I ride in PAS 1 or 2. Bike is an Ariel Rider C class with a Tongsheng motor and Nexus 7 IGH. I do try to maintain a cadence in the 70 rpms (for which I use PAS minimally, but mostly gear selection). It may be relevant that I...

    Are my assumptions correct?

Don't some venues limit trail access to class I ? I realize you can ride a class 3 at 20 mph or less, but the regulations may be aimed at your potential for more speed, not your actual speed.

"Best advice for new ebike riders" from us

Talk of mirrors reminds me of one of my pet peeves in movies: during a chase scene, the driver being chased always turns around to see his pursuer, which of course means he takes his eyes off the road at very dicey moment. Haven't they heard of rear-view mirrors? All a mirror requires is a quick...

"Best advice for new ebike riders" from us

I have 2 responses: 1) Turning your head to see what's coming up behind you takes your eyes off what's ahead of you, or coming at you from left or right. I never ride without my helmet mirror. Danny doesn't need a mirror on this ride because he doesn't have high speed vehicles roaring up from...

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

It's pretty obvious that the intent is not to eliminate CO2 altogether, but to limit the amount being added now at an exponential rate. Excessive CO2 not only increases global warming, it increases the acidity of the oceans, which is tough on marine organisms. These effects are already being...

Do you support the US federal E-BIKE act?

A similar dilemma faced the gasoline auto at its inception. Typically, you bought your gas in a can at a general store, not at a special station devoted to automobiles. And the roads everywhere were atrocious. It took along time before you could set off on a trek assured of good roads and plenty...

Front page LA Times today regarding Ebikes

And don't forget snowmobiles. I was in a cross country skiing traverse near Wenatchee a few years ago, and when we started skiingn down some of the snowmobilers favorite roads they became quite aggressive around us. I guess they figure the forest service roads belong to them.
