Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

My TCU display (Vado SL 5.0 EQ) was updated today. All troublefree. I now appear to have a PIN/lock option which I didn't have before (or had never seen?). I think the other three changes are; 1) an indicator on the screen that a ride is being recorded, 2) an indication of the gear you're in if...

    Mastermind TCU Update

Be warned ... when you do update the TCU display the system generates a warning telling you that the "motor is missing" ... a little disconcerting!

Finally, over the air update for Turbos (including CREO), but with a caveat

I've received an email from Specialized telling me my Turbo eBike has a new lock PIN. Why? I was perfectly happy with the original one. I've not updated the firmware or anything else. That's not even my bike which is rather lazy way to prepare the email ;).

SQlab Innerbarends®: The Strong and Weak Points

I ordered and fitted the 410/402 innerbarends and the medium 710 grips. For anyone who reads @Stefan Mikes comments above regarding the space these take on the bars ... don't worry ;). For the medium size grips and the innerbarends I had to move the 'other stuff' (brake levers, assist controller...

2022 Vado 4.0 SL cables interfering with headlight, so I flipped it.

There are even variants that can mount a GoPro (or light) and a Garmin-type computer on the front of the stem. At about £15 - and going by the huge range available - it suggests there's good money to be made in selling these sorts of things. The only thing I'd be concerned about is the quality...

Road tyres for Vado SL 5.0?

With many thanks. It turns out on checking the shed (!) that I've got some 32C's on my analog Cannondale. Not tubeless, but a reasonable tyre (Schwalbe Marathon Supreme) so I'll try these on the Vado and see how they are. I'm trying to find the Nimbus weight online again. It's almost never...

Road tyres for Vado SL 5.0?

I've seen lots of good words about Pathfinder Pro's and a few other tyres for gravel and tracks, but haven't found a recommendation for replacement road tyres on a Vado SL 5.0 EQ. The tyres provided are Nimbus II Sport Reflect, 700x38mm, which I think are about 750g each. The roads I ride aren't...

2022 Vado 4.0 SL cables interfering with headlight, so I flipped it.

Interestingly this isn't an issue on the 5.0 SL XL frame where the cables do not get in the way. I suspect they use the same length cables on several/all frame sizes.

SQlab Innerbarends®: The Strong and Weak Points

Thanks for this @Stefan Mikes ... I've just ordered the 710/402/410 combination for my Vado SL. I didn't have a printer so downloaded the PDF sizing chart from the SQlab website, scaled it to the correct size on my screen (it has a helpful centimetre scale on the right hand side of the page)...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

The 120 screen configurations do not appear to include the separate display of internal and RE battery ... at least, it's not an option I'm offered via Mission Control. I suppose it's possible that the option might appear if I had a range extender battery, but I suspect not.

You need to do a control that involves NOT eating the ice cream ;)

Not sure where in Europe you are @ronaan but I think there are a couple of places in the UK listing 40T chainrings ... for example singletrackbikes.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Mine is 44-50T on my SL 5.0 EQ and I've used it and the 42T neighbour, but don't think I've touched the 11T and 13T on the other side of the block. I'm just playing around on gear-calculator.com to see what size chainring gets me the most sprockets in the middle of the block around my average...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I also count speed bumps in my elevation gain ... every little bit helps ;) I must look at the options for a new chainring ... I've barely touched the smaller cogs at the back and would be keen to reduce some of the steeper angles the chain has to subtend to reduce wear.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Thanks Mark ... I wonder if Mission Control's moving time is related to the bike moving time, whereas Strava takes its info from the movement of the GPS sensor? That way, if I parked up and walked around (without manually pausing Mission Control) the GPS would still record movement if the phone...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I think you're right ... I rode today and stopped for lunch after a long, relatively flat section with a following wind :). The battery didn't change between stopping and checking 10 minutes later. However, after riding back home (and going up the 20% grade to the house) it again dropped a few...

Specialized turbo vado sl upgrade bike .

I'm interested in the SQlab 710 and innerbarend 402/410 combination as my initial upgrade. I've had mixed experience with these type of shaped grips. The ones that came with my last Cannondale were terrible and I replaced them with standard round grips. The stock grips on my Vado SL5.0 EQ are...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Battery fade or slow updating? I noticed today that the battery percentage remaining when I finished my ride is more than the percentage remaining 10-20 minutes later. I was looking out for it today having thought I'd noticed this last time. In both cases it was a 5-7% downward adjustment...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

My SL came with the clamp and post out. I don't recall having any issues with installing the clamp. Just loosen the clamp bolt sufficiently that the wedge is loose, offer everything up, get the seat height correct and tighten it up. I think you'd need to undo the bolt a long way to lose the...

Ordering online: Hoping the Retül size tool is accurate

Sorry @Stefan Mikes, only just seen this ... it was my "Yellow Peril" Vado SL 5.0 EQ. I'd gone into the LBS to ask about Creo and Vado SL availability. They didn't have any Vado's and only size M Creo's. I'd need XL in both - according to Retul - and they claimed they couldn't order either for...
