    Mission Control-Failed, again

My version of MC doesn't appear to record breathing. Is that part of the recent system upgrade?

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I changed the front ring to a 38T narrow/wide (Race Face) and so also got rid of the outer chainstay and have had no issues (other than it looks better as well ;)). Nice photos @AdmChr ... are the XTR brakes appreciably better than the stock (which are not as good as I'd hoped).

TCD/Garmin Mount on 2022 Turbo Vado SL

My Vado SL came with a little plastic 'thing' which fitted into the slot left in the stem after I removed the mount. Check the bag of miscellaneous bits supplied with the bike.

Actually ... there's another thing that's good about the rear rack. It conveniently hooks over the top of the bike stand I use, making the bike almost wobble free and vertical. Very convenient for doing minor maintenance tasks. It's also a useful place to tuck your gloves when stopping for a...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I've got the 5.0 but didn't really have the option of the 4.0 as they were even more difficult to find at the beginning of the year. However, I've no regrets about the purchase. Whether it's worth the price difference is questionable. I don't think the carbon fork makes a whole lot of difference...

Turbo Vado SL 5.0 vs Cannondale Quick Carbon 2

Interesting ... I've made a similar comparison using very similar bikes (Cannondale Quick Carbon vs Vado SL 5 EQ). I've never trusted many of the stats I get from Strava but at least they broadly agree on distance and height gained (~700 m) over the same ~43 km there and back route. I'm not...

It's supposed to be like that I think. My shop set the bike up well for me and it was exactly as you described. I've used a zip tie to attach it tight to the top of the light so it doesn't rattle.

2022 SL 5.0 has the customisable top tube display (Mastermind TCU) which you can alter via the app. For my use, this is all I find that's needed. I'm more interested in the scenery/wildlife than the detailed information it can display. However, should you need to look, it's there and is pretty...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I was riding this morning and thinking about this ... why does cadence influence climbing so much? If you shift down and up the power to TRAIL or TURBO it's a lot easier to climb, rather than upping the power and simply stomping on the pedals without changing to a lower gear. I'm sure there's...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

The hills around me aren't that long and steep. However, I do know that the 4-5 km hills with 180 m of climbing are at least 20% easier to climb on my Vado (and I barely ever use the Turbo setting) than on my analog carbon Cannondale. In addition, the short steep (300 metres and 20%) track is...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

How steep and long is your hill? I've gone for 38T and like it. With the 50 at the rear I can climb anything. That's not why I changed, but it's a consequence. It's worth noting that the assistance the Turbo Vado SL provides is 'only' 1.8 times ... I'm still gasping a bit at the top of the hills...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Apologies for the confusion ... the 11T had never been used. Now I've switched to a 38T chainring it might be. There's nothing particularly flat around here, so I have more options when climbing and the majority of my riding will be focused a little more on the middle cogs at the back, so...

If you mean I can't pedal fast enough to keep the top gear engaged, then no. But I've not used it much. 38T x 11T at a cadence of 110 is about 50 km/hr ... I freewheel at that speed.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Mission accomplished ... while inspecting the cassette it was clear that the 11T had never been unused. Swapping out the 44T for a 38T chainring unsurprisingly reduced the gearing throughout by about 15%, which effectively moves the most frequently used cogs on the cassette into the middle, and...

I'm also in the process of swapping the stock chainring for a 38T one, largely so I can use the middle of the block rather than only the cogs on the left. After a chat with @Rás Cnoic I purchased the Raceface 38T ring and fitted it. The chain is now too long ... I can't remember the last time I...

The third object is a blanking plate to be slotted into the stem in place of the bracket that holds the TCU (or whatever it's called on the Vado SL 4). I've got a SL 5.0 and it came with the bracket, but has the TCU in the frame, so I removed the bracket and used this blanking plate.

Alarm working? (Turbo Vado 4 2022)

I don't think all models even have the alarm, even though they have the lock. My '22 Turbo Vado SL 5.0 doesn't make a noise either. I've only heard the alarm on the Specialized video and it didn't exactly sound loud.

Finally, over the air update for Turbos (including CREO), but with a caveat

This is my very non-tech take on the update. I think it's a case of evolution rather than revolution and don't see any of the things are hugely significant (at least to my use of the bike). I don't have the relevant SRAM gearing, the lock/PIN might be useful but it's not going to stop anyone...
