EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

I'd be astounded if it made a difference ... and riding mine with/without anything in the bag doesn't seem to change the feeling of the suspension. Of course, if I packed the bag with the lunch I wanted, rather than what I need for the day, then perhaps it would compress the FutureShock ;)

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

Is there really a need for cycle braking lights? Since the topic is lights, I'll repeat my recommendation for a Garmin RTL-515 rear radar. I've now used one for 18 months, and it would be the first accessory I'd purchase for a new bike. It 'talks' to my phone running RideWithGPS and has...

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

Something cheap and cheerful from Amazon or eBay I think ... almost certainly this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09KV89XYR

EBR made me do it! (new Vado SL 5.0 EQ)

Very late to the party ... I've been away. Another bag option is one that attaches to the handlebars. You can lower the front light using a widely-available GoPro extension bracket. I posted about this 18 months ago, and it's worked flawlessly ever since. The handlebar bag - linked in that post...

    Mission Control and Garmin RTL515

I meant to post an update with my initial radar experience which addresses this question from @kahn ... I followed Ben J's advice (thanks @Ben J :)) and installed RideWithGPS on my Android phone. It's quite good in its own right. Map, position and some ride stats all displayed, or just the ride...

    Mission Control and Garmin RTL515

Thanks Stefan ... it probably is the easiest, but it more than doubles the price of adding the radar ... V1 of the ELMNT appears to be about £180 discounted here. Radar is about £130. Neat implementation of the radar signal on the screen though :)

2022 Vado - Flat tire while on kickstand

A bit late to this party ... but I use these stands for a Vado SL and a (very heavy) Cube ... and they work very well. On Amazon they're termed Oxford Unisex DS437 stands. Used for the rear wheel they're rock steady. On the Vado SL EQ the rack usefully 'clips' over the top of the support and...

    Mission Control and Garmin RTL515

Rider power? What's that? Probably not relevant for me ;) Many thanks ... I'll have a look at both those Apps.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

A further word on the seat ... after a couple of thousand uncomfortable miles I was considering all sorts of alternatives but instead fiddled around with the angle and - hey presto - it's now very comfortable. If you're struggling, reach for an allan key, not a credit card ;)

    Mission Control and Garmin RTL515

There's been a marked increase in electric cars this year and they sneak up on the narrow roads around here ... so I'm considering a Garmin radar. The RTL515 is currently reduced (but still expensive :(). Does anyone know whether I can run Mission Control on my phone and have the Garmin display...

If you were me, which Turbo Vado SL would you buy?

I've got the SL 5.0 EQ in cruising (not screaming) yellow and love it. I'm also about the OP's height and 3-4 kg's heavier. I got the XL and it's definitely the right size for me. I bought mine online (I live >150 miles from the nearest dealer) and spent some time discussing the sizing with the...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

A quick follow up on this bag which I remain pleased with. I've started carrying a small pair of binoculars for birdwatching or a little Sony camera, both of which make the bag sag down a bit and obscure the light, so contradicting my statement above. A bit of searching and boosting of Amazon's...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Try this (which is the one I have) but note that this one is 2/3rd the price and looks remarkably similar.

I agree (to the second point) ... I love it. She's called the Yellow Peril. I don't think I've had this much fun cycling since I was club time trial champion when I was 19 (in about 1924).

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I appreciate that, but I was suggesting an alternative to the previous suggested solution - cheaper and a bit larger. Clearly not suitable for some of course ;)

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

No ... there's one road where I live. I can go right or left. I've not got lost yet. I'm more interested in the scenery than the stats: I've have programmed the TCU (? - the one on the top bar) to display the time, distance and altitude gained. The top of the bag is almost flush with the...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I'm a bit late to the conversation here I'm afraid ... I've just got the bag shown in the photo from Amazon (UK) where it sells for about £20. There are broadly similar bags for about £14 if you look around; although the size is the same (2.4 litres - enough for a phone and lightweight jacket...

Oops ... rear mech/hanger crash damage Vado SL 5

All now fixed for a very satisfactory £20 ... ... though the trip to the LBS did cost me an additional £120 on other 'essentials' ;) .

Oops ... rear mech/hanger crash damage Vado SL 5

Thanks everyone ... the stars have aligned and I happen to be driving past the LBS (which is 2 hours away, not Specialized which is 5 hours away ... ) on Wednesday and I'm going to leave it in their capable hands.

Oops ... rear mech/hanger crash damage Vado SL 5

My evening ride today included a low speed crash. Although I thought nothing was damaged (on the bike ... my elbow is sore!) the indexing of the gears was clearly a problem. Closer inspection of the rear mech shows that it is now out of alignment. There's damage to the outside of the mech and...
