One way to do it would be to release the cable from the derailleur, pull the cable up past the sensor and take out the shift sensor altogether and set it aside with a zip tie? Feed the cable back through, there is probably plenty of slack to allow for taking out the sensor.

Started the day with a hazy Super Moon
Beat the traffic and rode to the local 4th of July parade
and followed up with a nice battery burner where I ran across this dark little deer that wasn't very afraid of me.
You would need to know what amperage the controller is set at times the voltage of the battery. For instance your wife's bike's controller is probably set to 25A with a 48v battery that equals 1200w peak.
I thought that a 125lb. Pike must be a world record?
As far as these type of two wheelers go it is a grey area that probably sooner than later will become black and white.
I personally, as an owner of one, wouldn't recommend the M620 for a rental bike. Perhaps the new M560 that appears to be the latest refinement of the M600 that still will have plenty of power and be much lighter might be a better option? I do like the concept of this bike though.
The fact that you rode across country on a 170lb recumbent with Avid mech disc brakes is both impressive and scary as (*&^! Bet you went through some brake pads. Glad it worked out and sounds like an epic adventure.
I didn't check ES frankly, although I usually do. I by no means am recommending these to anyone. If they can get them figured out it will just provide another option for the DIY crowd which now that there are so many relatively inexpensive eBikes out there seems to have not been growing much...
This came up on my screen today. The DM01 is kind of a BBSHD with Torque Sensing. Weighs 6kg......Square taper cranks, when are they going to get with the splined program over there? Supposedly developed by an ex Bafang engineer.
The DM02 is alot lighter @3.6kg or so and a competitor to the...
I think the 48v upgrade will work well for them, sure has for me over the years! But I have never really had a 36v system of my own although I have ridden and worked on them. Personally I use 52v but doubt that you will see that used by the big manufacturers like ever.
I do notice now how...
After building many wheels over the years that never had spokes break/loosen I would blame it on a poor wheel build to begin with. In fact I don't use a tension gauge although I tried one years ago. There are steps you make while building such as pre-stressing the wheels a few times side to side...
My original UART M620 48v labeled motor on my bike worked fine with a 52v battery charged to full. But I drowned it and the replacement motor I got from the supplier of the bike that was taken out of the same type bike wouldn't work with the 52v......I ended up returning it and getting a 52v...
"As far as throttle equipped mid drive bikes, those will be powered by Bafang motors"
Not necessarily true. In fact right in the OP's hometown there is a shop called Portland Electric Cycles that sells an affordable bike with a 48v TruckRun mid drive with torque sensing and a throttle.
You have a 48v controller that won't accept the full charge of 58.8v of a 52v battery. If you can reduce the charge down to below 54.4v somehow and try it it will probably work...
Get some John Deere Cornhead grease, pull the motor, split the case, remove any factory grease (probably won't be much) and install about a tablespoon of the CH grease. Won't completely get rid of the whine but will certainly make it more efficient.
I always am at my best on traveled roads, hug the white line and even will go to the shoulder if it is ridable. Wide berthers still will go completely into the other lane to get around me even on blind corners. The law says give 3' and that is plenty in those situations unless the rider is...
Blue thread locker is a good idea. Clean the axle and threads of the crank arm bolt beforehand. Can't give you a torque spec I just tighten mine till the bolt stops moving. Let the loctite dry at least overnight before use. Always good to carry the correct allen key along in your kit just in case.
