Hub- vs. mid-drive for e-gravel/road bikes

I gifted my son two ebikes over the last few years. One is a hardtail mid drive with a TSDZ2 motor and the other is what is called a gravel bike these days I suppose with a dd front hub motor. He has come to the same conclusion that I did over the years that a hub motor bike is better for road...

    Bafang BBS-02/HD vs M600 vs M620 (Ultra)

I only put in a heaping tbsp of Cornhead in mine and the others I have done that replaced about a half a tsp. Those that fill the area with grease are in for problems I feel as there is no real gasket between the gearbox and the controller?

    Bafang BBS-02/HD vs M600 vs M620 (Ultra)

The torque assist on an M620 running the UART takes a bit of tuning from stock via a Windows computer and an accessory cable with the correct software. Along with a fair amount of hunt and pecking. Once achieved I find it to be on par with any pedal assist system I have experienced. Doesn't...

Bafang M620 Ultra motor broken? Low torque problem. Best retailer for US?

I didn't see the 52v UART version listed on CA. eBike and that was why I suggested GreenBikit which does? If you worked out that is what you needed with CA then that is probably the hold up as they have to special order it from Bafang in China. Hopefully you will receive it soon!

Charging Ebikes on EV Charging stations

If you read this sites info you will see that isn't going to happen anytime soon, or at least until there is standardization in the eBike charger world: https://fit-ebike.com/en-en/about-us/blog/e-bike-chargers/ However it is possible to find conventional outlets or have them in designated...

    New Chinese Battery Standard

No real word in that article it the new standard achieves the UL one that is being required in some states here? If not then another hoop to jump through for the suppliers. I happen to know that getting a battery certified is no cheap endeavour.

Bafang M620 Ultra motor broken? Low torque problem. Best retailer for US?

I was led to believe that when you swap out controllers you need to "clock" the new one to the motor. Maybe not the right term but it does involve a specialized electronic device that I figured in the end I would have no idea of how to use and I am not shy about mechanics. If you could find...

Bafang M620 Ultra motor broken? Low torque problem. Best retailer for US?

https://www.greenbikekit.com/g51-m620-ultra-barebone-motor.html This is what I used when I drowned my original motor. The UART version is preferable because it can be tuned easily via the available programming. IIRC CA eabike only offers the CanBus version. Also you will want the 52v as well...

    Can't find Battery

The Chinese New Year started today so that will put communication with Herbert at a standstill for a few week. DT is a large supplier of good standing that still will sell an individual battery to anyone.

    Tongsheng slipping

Could be the sprag clutch? My suggestion would be to just get another motor, which if you are in Asia, should be as cheap as it gets. Install that and continue on and use you tube to help tear down your current motor which should end you up with a spare. 5000k @ 10wh\mile denotes very careful use.

ChatGPT on the joys of cycling and buying another ebike

Beach bike riding tips. Get a tide book, go at a lowering tide, ride the hard brown sand and run what you brung. I have logged miles of beach on 45c tires. My Friends niece was the Valedictorian of her graduation class this year and she used ChatGBT to write her speech and it was well received...

True or False - Bafang 750w vs Bafang 750w

You can also lace the 150mm version into a 35mm wide rim and still use the 2.5-3.0 size tires if fat tires aren't your thing. Maybe just replace the motor that has issues on the bike you have with the former? Much cheaper than a new bike.

None, try the ignore feature? While it is all of our prerogative to have views on the world of ebikes, some are not in line with our personal views and disputing them on forums like this usually lead nowhere. To those that follow the BS spread around here Caveat Emptor. As far as "gravel bike"...

    Yamaha Y-01W AWD & Y-00Z MTB

I have been using a front hub drop bar bike for 6yrs now as an all road ride. 700c wheels with 45c tires so it can't be expected to get too rowdy but I have been surprised at some of the places I have gone on them, I've built 3 now, from beach riding to 9,000' Rocky Mtn. mining roads and a lot...

While my son fished, I took a ride on the trail along the river here in Sequim, WA. Olympic National Park. A nice day was had by both.
