Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

I use power to meet my friend on a paved bike trail and then turn the assist off to ride with him for 12 miles or so. It pedals every bit as well, if not better, unassisted than my analog bike so I actually have to slow down, even with no assist, so as not to lose sight of him in my mirror...

An AirTag inside the top tube sounds like a great idea assuming I could get the cops to chase it down! Decades ago I bough a quite heavy motorcycle lock made of Ulock type steel bar that folds so is about three three feet long with 6 inch long links or so at the Yamaha dealer so I guess I could...

Those seat posts aren't on my radar as I lift my butt from the seat to cross major bumps.

That's how bicycling differs in Europe vs here in the States, especially in the Netherlands. There it is a form of transportation and a commute vehicle, here it is for recreation usually in nice weather so no fenders required. I was struck with the ferocity of bicycle commuters in Amsterdam...

Just got a Specialized Turbo Vado SL 5.0 and am quite surprised

Took 5 minutes to verify that indeed all the helper springs were in the bag, none in the bike. Loosen pinch bolts on steering stem. Use your fingers to unscrew the finger tight cover on top of the stem. Remove stem and attached handlebar and place carefully on front wheel, (used a bungee cord...

Intersting; the thee springs in the box are "helper" springs that supplement the main spring which is why I did notice some damping but tomorrow I'll try the medium (black) helper spring. Thanks a bunch.

Can you send me the link? I just pulled out my springs from the box expecting there to be two of the three options in there, with the missing one being in the bike, but no, there are THREE springs, soft, medium and hard. Very very odd that my bike may have no spring whatsoever! Thanks.

Yes, it does come with optional inserts for the Futureshock so I likely need to go that route at 200lbs/91kg.

Not sure my 5.0 SL needs to be any lighter to be honest; despite the future shock it is rigid as hell. The carbon fiber fork is part of the reason I'm guessing as every bump of any size is an impact.

Yes, mine shows date but as I don't have a smartphone I don't use the phone app to customize anything and am fine with it "stock." I just wish it had a miles since new odometer as well as the trip odometer available on the bike display vs going to the app.

Actually no, my 2021 has the mastermind display on the top bar...or is that the older TCU which I thought was on the handlebar? My build date is 10/23/21.

Just got a Specialized Turbo Vado SL 5.0 and am quite surprised

Got some new pedals so I could add toe clips like my other bikes. I like the ability to pull up and push down as exercise is my primary use for the bike. Stock pedals weigh about 6oz, lighter than I thought, these weighed about a half oz more before adding the toe clips...

    Best Wireless Earbuds for Ebikes

I guess I could see getting a bluetooth thing that would fit in a secondary cup holder or under the top tube, but blocking one's ears seems very very bad when we have so few safety options. Maybe a JBL Flip 4.

    Firmware update for charging limit

IDK, if it had been a disclaimer that would be one thing, but the marketing is very clear when it comes to range which assumes a 100 percent charge. Remember, these guys leave the door open for firmware updates. Any cheap piece of audio equipment comes with free firmware updates that can be...

    Firmware update for charging limit

Not to mention lying about true range if the max recommended charge is 80 percent. We should get a 20 percent refund or a free extender battery.
