    First accident

I still have my Kevlar long johns from my motorcycle days. They’re specifically intended to be worn under regular pants and shirt to prevent road rash in a motorcycle accident. https://dragginjeans.net/collections/men/products/k-legs Based on this thread, I think I’ll pull them out for...

Second (back up) battery on a Bafang mid motor

What’s the quickest/easiest method to ascertain and obtain an equal SOC between two 48v rated batteries?

Second (back up) battery on a Bafang mid motor

Turns out there’s a simple solution from Bafang: https://www.bafangusadirect.com/Parallel-Battery-Connector-Cable-p/28.htm

    Satori Animaris Seatpost

I also put one on my fat tire e bike. I’m 260 pounds and I’m running my 26x4 Origin8 Supercells at max pressure, but my ride is fine and supple, so I’m assuming the Satori is doing it’s job. I’ve never used a suspension seat post before so I have nothing to which to compare it.

What Is The Most Comfortable PSI For Riding A Fat Tire Ebike ?

I changed out the Kenda Juggernauts that my bike came with for 30tpi Origin8 Supercells. I ride 90% road to 10% rail trails. I was running the max in the Kendas (25 psi). I’m still breaking in the Origin8s. They call for a max of 20 pounds but I’m running them at 22 pounds (for no obvious...

Can I connect an aux. battery's output discharge port (48V21A) to the input charge port of 48V13A main battery?

Bafang sells a parallel cable for wiring in a second battery: https://www.bafangusadirect.com/Parallel-Battery-Connector-Cable-p/28.htm

Do you wear a mask when you ride?

This article on face masks, written by a close personal friend, examines all the medical literature behind the use of face masks. The results are not what you would expect from the MSM and the government - there is no hard “scientific” evidence behind the use of surgical or cloth face masks...

Sold my motorcycle. Waiting for my ebike to arrive

I sold my 2018 Honda NC750X so I could pick up a 27hp 4x4 diesel tractor this spring. It was my ninth motorcycle over the last 25 years and being off two wheels was killing me. I was already looking at e bikes but selling my last motorcycle made my e bike search accelerate. I now have a BBS02...

    Hydraulic drive e bike?

I inquired about heat production in the hydraulic drive on their Facebook ad. They replied:

    Hydraulic drive e bike?

Definitely. I just picked up a 27hp 4x4 Ford/ New Holland tractor with hydrostatic transmission and that drive system is excellent, especially as I have a weak left leg and clutching would be a chore. But I can see where that type drive would chew up a lot of the mid drive power on a 350w 36v...

    Hydraulic drive e bike?

Has anyone seen the “B.C. Bikes” ads on Facebook for their new “hydraulic drive” “infinite gear selection” e bikes? Is this a new drive concept that’s actually coming to market? If so, what’s the consensus of our resident chain / belt / derailleur/ IGH experts on its feasibility...

    Transporting a large Ebike

I just found a combination cargo rack and motorcycle carrier on Facebook Marketplace for $80. The cargo rack and motorcycle carrier are 500lb capacity. Although I can easily fit my 60lb Rambo fat e bike in the rear of my cargo van, I got the rear rack and a motorcycle cover, to go traveling...

Second (back up) battery on a Bafang mid motor

I hadn’t thought of this application, honestly. Would that switch - alone - be sufficient to create a reliable two battery parallel application, if your batteries were indeed of equal voltages? I assumed the e bike companies currently offering two batteries had a bit more electronics involved...

Second (back up) battery on a Bafang mid motor

As far as your #3 goes, I wouldn’t attempt to use both batteries at once, in parallel. I would simply like to have the back up battery carried securely in its own mount and already wired in, so it can be switched on like a back up gas tank.

    interesting bike ride

Sorry, I assumed they still made one. They shouldn’t be too difficult to cobble together with flexible solar panels and a little electrical know how (which I certainly do NOT have!) Rambo makes a 205w unit compatible with Bafang batteries (currently out of stock)...

    interesting bike ride

Excellent video, truly inspiring. I want to complete the Camino de Santiago by e bike in the next few years. This would be a great goal down the road after that. An electric folding bike plus two or three batteries plus this kind of solar charger on top the railroad bike frame would make it...

    Bike Boom Redux

I was searching Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace for ideas on ebikes since before the pandemic hit people’s consciousness, just to see what was available. It may just be the difference between winter and summer, but the number of both low end and high end used e bikes available has exploded...

Second (back up) battery on a Bafang mid motor

Question: Did anyone ever mount a second battery on the rear rack of a Bafang mid drive, with a toggle switch to change over from a dead primary battery to the fully charged back up battery? Obviously each battery would have to be charged separately. How hard would it be to add one this way...

Nano-diamond batteries could disrupt energy as we know it

Here’s an interview with the NBD team: https://newatlas.com/energy/nano-diamond-battery-interview-ndb/ I have no way to evaluate whether they’re just blowing smoke or if it’s a “real” possibility of battery tech advancement.
