    Bolton controller on RR ST1

Hi Tom, yes, as above. It works quite well - if you need me to document all settings, let me know and I can probably get them for you tonight.

Amen. And I meant to type Wera, not Wiha - my bad.

    New Specialized 2022 Como 3.0

Lovely bike, and glad you are enjoying it! I test rode the Como, it is a very sweet ride. I just felt better on the Vado; if the LBS didn't have a Vado in stock, I too would be riding the Como.

    Rounded bolt

I have also "squared off" bolt heads with a file (or Dremel), then used a small wrench or vise grips to get them out. If you have to do maintenance that includes Torx bolts, get Wiha Torx bits. They're not expensive for a set to work on a bike, made in Germany, they seat perfectly, and I've...

    Rounded bolt

If you have the means, very carefully slot the bolt head with a Dremel, a fine hacksaw, or the ilk; then use a screwdriver on it.

    Ok, I get it now...

I got some warm-weather 1/2 finger gloves w/ gel pads yesterday, will ride with them today and hope things are better! I did wear gloves last fall and winter (as much as we have winter here) into spring, but then sweat wasn't much of an issue...

I like the ones you posted, but sadly there is no texture where the thumb rests or grips - which seems to be a huge issue for me w/ the Specialized, Ergon grips. You don't sweat either? ;)

I mentioned I have the GP-3 grips on my Rover, and I find them supremely comfortable - they are very similar to the ones you linked. These GA-3L, though - I don't know about them. I've adjusted and re-adjusted and no luck. Maybe I should try the GP-3's on the Vado, although I have the short...

Western North Carolina hates electric mountain bikes.

I have to think there are some forest service roads in Pisgah you could ride? Not mtb trails, but dirt/gravel roads. Might not hurt to reach out to the nearest FS Ranger office and ask them where you can ride in the national forest. I intend to come out your way soonish, but I was going to camp...

    Hi-Vis colors?

https://www.rei.com/product/169110/pearl-izumi-quest-barrier-convertible-cycling-jacket-mens I got this during an REI sale, highly recommended. I have a white helmet. I got some 1/4" wide white reflective tape and put subtle tape stripes all over it - stripes are barely noticeable during the...

You are correct, and I intend to get some asap. I tried the Ergon GA-3L grips. First of all, I cannot find any position in which they are comfortable. I tried adjusting them on my rides and - nothing but pain. I was completely wrong about their rubber and channeling water/air. I could barely...

If anyone is still reading this, I would like to confirm something: The Vado's "Flowset" stem is simply aesthetic? Meaning it has the teardrop shape. Obviously the tube it clamps onto is round, but the stem base, spacers, and plastic garnish are shaped for appearance, not for function? Not...

Tools, spare tube, tire levers, digital tire pressure gauge, basic 1st aid kit, extra MissingLink, tire patch, zip ties, small bag of spare nuts/bolts/washers/spacers. It's a very compact bag, enough stuff so that if I experience issues I can repair and ride home; or help someone who is broken...

Not a developer! Voice networking/SIP routing, I try to script as much as possible (Powershell, bash). And yep, these tires are working nicely so far for my riding - kind of like an all-terrain.

Thank you! And I completely agree! This has been a transformative hobby: something we can all do virtually every day, improves physical health, see things and places we miss when driving or couldn't otherwise experience, and the social component is fantastic too (both here/online, and in meeting...

Dang, Al, sorry you had that experience! I hope to never be in that position, and the few slightly sudden stops I've had with them did not result in any problems. BTW I'm riding the Vado about 75% onroad and 25% off, except on the weekends when it's 90% off. Not sure if it makes a difference...

Nothing fancy, and they're not non-sweating - if I could find something like that, I'd buy them all! I have Ergon GP-3 on my Rover and found that even when wet, I do not lose my grip. I am going to try GA-3 on the Vado. The Ergon rubber does feel much tackier to me, and they have more...

Understood, but I do not have this problem with another brand/set of grips on my other bike. The rubber seems tackier, and there is more channeling of air and water. If my new grips end up not alleviating this, then yes - gloves are next.

The Hurricanes are working out well for me. I had the chance to ride them in some wet conditions, and I'll just say - their grip exceeded my abilities and confidence. I'd rather not crash, so I take it easy in the wet stuff, slow down, extra-cautious. They stuck well, quite happy. And I'm really...

Apps for cycling. Does anyone else find them kind of... lacking?

Really depends on what you want to track? I only log the basics: distance, speed, elevation +/-, the actual route. If it's a route I really like, I'll export the gpx (and can import it to Mission Control). I used to use Sports-Tracker for hiking and found it was great for my needs, and I liked...
