Apps for cycling. Does anyone else find them kind of... lacking?

Specialized's Mission Control app runs on your phone, and it connects via BT to the Specialized TCDw (display). It only works for their bikes. Basic but for tuning the bike and doing simple tracking, it's fine.

Apps for cycling. Does anyone else find them kind of... lacking?

I do not use any apps for tracking (Strava, RidewithGPS, Sports-Tracker, etc.) as tracking is handled by my Specialized Mission Control app. However, in looking for routes, I use OSMAnd+ with overlays, cycle maps, etc etc to map out routes. OSMAnd is free, the paid version (+) has many more...

What spoke wrench for these spokes?

Feel free to lay off the snark, it doesn't add anything to your posts. If one doesn't have the specialty tool in hand, all I was saying is a small crescent can be used - never claimed it is the perfect tool.

What spoke wrench for these spokes?

If ever in doubt, a mini Crescent wrench works fine, and no need to worry about size.

    Ok, I get it now...

Today was fun, but I broke a cardinal rule in my profession: don't make multiple changes at once! This makes a mess of sorting out each individual change. First, the Schwalbe Hurricane tires. I went with 27.5 x 2.25 instead of the 2.4 wide. As I've only had the stock Pathfinder tires on my...

    Ok, I get it now...

I didn't have a light on my Vado seat, I've been using a small light with 5 patterns (steady, flashing) zip-tied to the back of my helmet. Not the prettiest thing, but having that light up high makes me feel better, not sure if drivers see it...

Back on the saddle after 7 weeks of no riding

So very sorry to learn you are experiencing this, but delighted to know you're easing back into things - I can sense a smile or grin in your posts! This is a salient reminder to all of us to not take our days for granted, and try to enjoy every single one.

    Ok, I get it now...

Hi John, I have the Bontrager Boulevard saddle size L. We all know how subjective saddle comfort is, but this one is perfect for me: just enough padding for the sit bones w/o being springy, provides excellent butt comfort and support, narrow nose for my thunderthighs. I tried a few other saddles...

Tools you always have on your bike?

Spare tube Patch kit Manual mini pump Zip ties Small bag of spare nuts, bolts, washers, aluminum spacers Basic first aid kit JIS bit set w/ 2 small drivers (one ratchets, the other is more of a traditional driver). 100% of the time works better than allen wrenches and traditional screwdrivers...

    Non-commuters: Daily routine?

I've started visualizing this as my retirement routine as well: morning coffee, catch up on news etc., go for a ride. Now if I could just actually retire - 2 to a few more years, if plans work out! If we stay here in NC, I'll be able to do it year-round.

    90/70

I am losing my mind. When I went for my daily ride today, it was 95* - but only 40% humidity. It was actually kinda nice, but much happier being inside w/ AC right now....

    Non-commuters: Daily routine?

For those who do not use their ebikes for commuting purposes, I was curious what your daily/weekly routine is regarding riding? For example, I work from home; I cannot get up early; so I usually ride after work (after 5PM). Virtually every day, I do a 12-15mi route around our suburban hell. On...

Suspensions seat post/maximum seat comfort for Rad Wagon 4

I've used the Suntour NCX seatpost on 2 bikes now and am quite happy with it. Shopping around, you can find them for less than $100. Depending on your weight, they also offer different springs which cost ~$15. I feel relatively certain they're not as "nice" as the high-end models, but they work...

    Ok, I get it now...

I've done around 200mi now, including a long ride in gravel yesterday. Some followup thoughts: The Suntour NCX17 seatpost + my Bontrager seat have made this bike even more comfortable. They've not changed my riding position at all, just makes it a pleasure to cover the miles with no rear end or...

Appreciate this, @Saratoga Dave I was struggling with height and how much adjustability to go for, this is a huge help!

That is so cool! I spotted the owl, stopped, and tried to get close enough to snap a photo. The owl screeched and flew off to a much higher branch on another tree, so the only photo I got is bad. We have plenty of hawks around here, one brushed my shoulder as I was grilling one day - talk about...
