Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

The CF Vado2 6.0 non-EQ has a carbon fork and seatpost and clocks in at 35.x lbs. This isn't too bad. I doubt the aluminum version will be less than 40 lbs. Curious tire choice - 700c x 47mm trekking tire. Add another +$100 to swap those out unless the bike is strictly for commuting. Pass.

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

This is the bike I've been waiting for, updated Vado w/ SL 1.2 motor. Ain't no way in hell I'm buying, though. It's become a pig. I'll continue riding my steel Dr. Dew and regular Vado. O well.

    My life was threatened....

Yeow, back from the dead. No guns, no other weapon of any kind, no more flipping people off, I have finally learned to just say whatever and continue on my way. I did have a driver threaten to run me over. I blew him a kiss.

Turbo Vado 5: too unstable on the kickstand

Grab a hacksaw and trim a bit off the bottom of the kickstand - can't remember how much I took off, but it wasn't much (maybe 2-3cm?) and the instability is gone. Bonus points for cutting it properly so it sits flat when deployed. The other thing that drove me nuts w/ the Vado kickstand is mine...

    Creo 2 short supply?

This is an area you have no idea what you're talking about; and you are a person in California building one-off bikes for an entirely different segment, not a multi-national corp catering to wide interests. Why you have to interject here is beyond me, but at least you didn't post eleventy pix of...

Using Flat Out in smaller tires questions

I have used FlatOut on 42, 44, 47mm tubeless tires now and it's mostly worked fine, typically never above 45psi and ordinarily high 30's/low 40's. Recently I had a problem with Specialized Pathfinder Pro 650bx47mm (tubeless), it kept losing air. I'd pump it up and could not find any leak via...

Turbo Vado 4.0, how to make it lighter?

You could see some nominal improvement for a substantial investment. Swap out the front suspension fork for a carbon fork (or maybe alloy) and save up to 4 lbs. Wheels and tires for sure. Here again, carbon or a lightweight alloy + tubeless will save a couple of lbs front and rear. These 2...

    Turbo Tero 3.0, anyone?

On the other hand, my Vado 3 with the 530wh battery, 200lb rider, easily gets 70 miles or more per charge. I ride in Eco except for some nasty hills, now tuned to 10-30% assist; Sport I have set to 50-70%; and Turbo 80-100%. I used to have Eco set to 5-25% and could go even further. This is also...

    48t 104bcd chainring for Vado

Wow, that looks like a totally generic chainring. I wonder if the shop swapped it out or just grabbed the wrong one prior to building it? Anyway, I'd not lament the absence of the Praxis Wave ring, and instead just get a quality narrow-wide chainring and happily ride for thousands of miles...

Turbo Como - Conversion to a trekking bike - Completed project overview

Aside from the Aliexpress pimping, what makes this a "trekking" bike? It appears to be a Como with a bunch of stuff bolted on.

    Tubeless tire experiences

Either. Again, I run it in tubes and tubeless.

    Tubeless tire experiences

I too am 100% in the FlatOut camp, for both my tubed tires and tubeless. It has not required any extra maintenance, no periodic supplemental injections, no clogged valves. As with all tires, all I need to do is check the inflation pressure once or twice a week, and go riding... I scored a set...

    48t 104bcd chainring for Vado

Dredging this one back up. My eBay chainring turns out to not be so great. For some inexplicable reason (boredom + alcohol), I took it off the Vado Sunday just to have a look. All 4 holes for the mounting bolts are slightly wallowed out. Now, I am not putting out crazy human power, so this is a...

    Are my assumptions correct?

    1. I have no desire to exceed 20 mph, so there is no reason to consider a class 3 ebike. I'd throw this criteria out the window as you're artificially limiting your options. If a Class 3 ebike meets all of your other criteria, you can still ride it under 20mph, why discount it? 2. A lighter...

Were You Moving Away From E-Bikes, What Traditional Bicycle Would You Buy?

I have been doing less miles on my Vado and more on the Kona Dew Plus I picked up a month ago. Quick backstory which you may find helpful (or not): since my Vado is supremely comfortable (e.g. I did a ride where I did not lift my butt from the saddle for 16 miles, and only got off the saddle to...

    1UP-USA Racks - I'm a fan

Completely thrilled with my 1UP SuperDuty as well! for all the reasons already mentioned. Silly tip: Cut off a piece of pool noodle, slice it open, velcro it around the retainer that presses onto the tire, and you can easily and securely carry bikes with fenders (holds my 55 lb Vado fine).

    Bicycle dog leash???

I am by no means dismissing your experience, @J.R. and was merely trying to emphasize that a dog's instincts can be unpredictable when tethered. Regardless of breed, as I'm sure you know, dogs behave differently when tethered vs able to run free. When tethered, you're limiting their mobility...

    Bicycle dog leash???

I know everyone says they train their dogs and I don't doubt it. You simply cannot train out instinct, though. Think about the 2 incidents below when your dog is tethered and is put into an unwanted/threatening situation, what will your dog do? Other people are careless, e.g. no control on- or...

    RIP AHicks aka Alan Hicks

This one really hurts. I didn't know him in person, but his erudite posts and general awesomeness got me to register for and participate in the forums. And I told him so. Al, thanks so much for all you contributed and for being an amazing human being - you will be missed.

Battery Range Experience for Specialized E-Bikes

Eh, not going to get an SL. I am riding my new hybrid human-only powered bike more and more and really enjoying that (Kona Dew Plus).
