    The new turbo Vado 2017

So here's my question. Reading this forum, I see numerous references to problems Vado owners are having, either with the electronics or the motor itself. Do they represent a consensus of a not-ready-for-prime-time product, or does a company like Specialized sell so many bikes that one is bound...

Uphill Battle ; Bosch CX vs Brose ?

Yeah, I should have referenced that thread, Mark. Taken together with what the salesperson told me (about how weak Brose motors were) I was completely unprepared for the smooth powerful way I flew up some very steep hills with the Vado. Do you think Specialized has tuned it so as to coax more...

Uphill Battle ; Bosch CX vs Brose ?

If you watch the relevant threads in this forum you'll see a few people who've had issues with their Vados. A few have reported motor noise and problems which required repair. Most complaints, however, aren't about the motor but about Specialized's implementation and software. It didn't help...

Uphill Battle ; Bosch CX vs Brose ?

I'm sure folks with more experience will weigh in here, and may not agree with what I have to say. Nonetheless, this is what I've found. 1) my first ebike experience was in SF on a Stromer. I felt like Superman, flying up a really steep hill. 2) my second experience was test riding a base model...

    Quick-E+

Visited a lbs yesterday, where I test rode the Cube Cross Hybrid Pro Allroad. First ride on a Bosch system, I liked it and was surprised by how quiet it was after hearing from numerous sources that noise was an issue with Bosch. Anyway, they also had the Giant Quick-e, which I'd ridden...

    The new turbo Vado 2017

Specialized website now has more description of the various Vado models. Descriptions for the 2.0 and 3.0 are nearly identical and both describe maximum assist speed as 20 mph. So, what is maximum assist speed for the Vado 3.0? Who knows. We await word from those with more connect than we possess.

    Quick-E+

Interesting, thanks. Have you seen the specs for the just announced 2018 model? I would like to know if you felt the Tektro brakes constituted an 'upgrade', and if any of the other changes addressed the shortcomings you describe in the 2017...

    Quick-E+

Just saw on the Giant website that they've announced 2018 models for the quickie and roadie (also mtb, but I don't really follow those.) I was thinking maybe they'd have the new Yamaha motor, but no joy. Different brakes, derailleur, lights- and a $50 price hike. The site is kinda hard to read...

    Turbo Vado 3.0 - Confirmed 28mph

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that Specialized has, in fact, decided to make the 3.0 a class 3, 28mph bike after stating unequivocally just a month or two earlier that it would be limited to 20 mph. Do I plan to ride faster than 20 on any kind of regular basis? I don't think so- I never...

    Turbo Vado 3.0 - Confirmed 28mph

This confirms what I was told last month by a knowledgeable salesperson at a large Austin lbs that does a significant amount of ebike business (I posted this at the time in another thread.) it's great to have confirmation of this good news! PacApp, how hard to you feel you need to pedal (on flat...

    The new turbo Vado 2017

Right. Thing is, I was visiting my mom in Austin (I'm not there any longer). I don't plan to buy until this all shakes out- like next spring- if the Vado continues to have poor feedback from owners I'll probably buy the Giant Quick-e+.) All of which is to say... Court? What can you find out?

    The new turbo Vado 2017

Well, unfortunately, no, I have no direct experience. HOWEVER, I just visited a large bike shop in Austin- the one at S. Lamar and Barton Springs Road- and had my first look at an actual Vado. They've sold a number of them and I chatted with their most ebike-savvy salesman for about 10 minutes...
