An open letter from an industry insider regarding eMTB trail access

eMTBs are widely accepted in Western Europe. I wonder what they do differently? Or is it simply that Europeans are more respectful than Americans?

I have a rare 6-day weekend coming up next week from 10/23-10/28. I was planning on going for a biking trip. Trouble is, I am not sure where to go! I would like to drive to a good destination for biking. I would go up to about 300 miles (or less) from the northeast philadelphia area. Maybe a...

Pennsylvania Rides | Meetups | Pennsylvania Riders

You mentioned the best single day ride at the Pine Creek was from Darling Run down to Slate Run and back for a total of 53 miles. For a half-day ride, would you recommend going from Darling Run east towards Wellsboro Junction and back, or from Slate Run south towards Jersey Shore and back...

bike stand for maintenance for an ebike

I bought it from todson.com and sadly after shipping it cost 95 dollars. Works fine though for cleaning and drivetrain adjustment. The stand @FlatSix911 linked to looks much sturdier, though Also less portable.

    Ebike related stocks.

I would say you missed the peak in any bicycle stocks. Covid 19 growth has already been factored in to share prices.

    Best Wireless Earbuds for Ebikes

I would consider that dangerous. You couldn't hear your surroundings with noise cancelling ear buds. The number of times I have almost hit a pedestrian on a shared trail because they were wearing earbuds and couldn't hear me constantly ringing my bell, and they walk into my path at the last...

Help finding a lightweight hybrid/comfort ebike

This, exactly. With a stem riser, upright/swept back handlebars, a short stem, ergon grips, and a new saddle, you can change any bike into a "comfort bike." This is what I did with my full suspension mountain bike, and it came out great.

bike stand for maintenance for an ebike

I bought that and returned it. My bike weighs 50 pounds. It was not stable at all. Went with the Topeak tuneup stand X. It's expensive for what it is, and not perfect, but works just fine and I am quite satisfied.

    Acceptable roof rack for eBikes?

A 5 foot piece of plywood that lives in the truck bed, with small a small hole drilled in each side. A strap that runs through the holes on the plywood and connects to the D-Rings at the end of the truck bed. This makes a ramp, and while it is a sharp upward angle, it is sufficient to get the...

    Acceptable roof rack for eBikes?

Right. This setup is what I want. The guy is using the Yakima Frontloader rack, which is rated for 40 pounds. My bike weighs a little over 50 pounds. So I need a solution to carry the bike on the crossbars over the tonneau cover.

Pennsylvania Rides | Meetups | Pennsylvania Riders

Was at the GAP this week. If you are thinking of going, from a foliage perspective, do it asap. Monday, I rode from Frostburg to Cumberland and back, 32 miles. Foliage was likely the beginning of the peak on this leg. I used three times the amount of battery on the uphill as I did the...

My Favorite Bike Trails in the Northeastern US

Curious how you transport your ebikes on your Subaru while towing that camper? On a roof rack?

Pennsylvania Rides | Meetups | Pennsylvania Riders

Thanks @6zfshdb and @J.R. for the all the help - I'll do the GAP this week. Weather forecasts look perfect for Cumberland, Frostburg, Garret, and Confluence. Does the weather along the trail vary from the weather in the towns? Not sure if I should pack extra layers if it is expected to be...

Pennsylvania Rides | Meetups | Pennsylvania Riders

Thanks a lot for that. Do you think the foliage will be better next week on that stretch of the GAP or the Pine Gorge? The weather seems to have improved at the pine gorge next week, so I am debating which one to ride. I'll ride the other trail sometime the following week.

Pennsylvania Rides | Meetups | Pennsylvania Riders

I'm thinking I will do the GAP next week as the weather is looking a bit rainy up at pine creek gorge. Could you @6zfshdb and @J.R. Please kindly help me make my itinerary? I am not at all familiar with the area. I would leave monday or tuesday from the philadelphia area and would only have 2...

Pennsylvania Rides | Meetups | Pennsylvania Riders

Thanks for that. It would make sense to do the Waterville to Slate Run and back ride on my last day, as I will be returning home by heading south. I would just drive from Wellsboro to Waterville, and then start the ride, as it is already on the way. Do you know if there is parking available in...

Pennsylvania Rides | Meetups | Pennsylvania Riders

Looks like I'll have a bit of extra time in the Pine Creek Gorge next week. I was initially going to stay a night at Watkins Glen, and a second night at Wellsboro, but my wife wants me to stay in the same hotel for both nights as she thinks it is safer with regards to Covid. So I will be staying...

Pennsylvania Rides | Meetups | Pennsylvania Riders

Thanks for this. I would like to make a GAP trip in the next couple weeks. When would you say is the peak foliage? How many days would you allot to see the best parts of the trail, and whats your suggested itinerary? Realistically I will only get 3 or so days off work.
