First Ebike, want a mid drive with a throttle?

Sadly, you're right. Many of the online sellers are so lame they can't give geometry, nor do many even bother giving full specs of components. It's amazing how fly-by-night a lot of the internet guys are - too many seem like fast-buck artists doing it as a sideline business, or are incompetent...

Really nice review from Cirrus Cycles (this guy does excellent reviews)

    Responding to bike-on-ebike harassment

Yelling "on your left" startles people and often they move exactly the wrong way as it requires mental processing to think "which way is left?" A couple flicks of a good bell seems to be more effective for me, especially when someone has earbuds - that distinctive high pitch seems to pierce thru...

    Juggernaut Ultra Addons

What a great looking bike. Love those Speedster tires. That fork really cleans up the front end. How's the ride with that rigid fork? And before anyone asks, where did you get that fork (model/brand?)

    Step-Thru

Interesting idea. 48v is rare for Euro bikes. https://www.ebike-manufaktur.com/en/katalog/e-bikes/8cht-gates-nuvinci-ecvp-380-disc-continental-600wh

First Ebike, want a mid drive with a throttle?

Have you checked out Luna Cycle? They sell nice mtn bikes (from Giant etc) that they convert to electric with 48v/52v motors. Have a kit look since they add motors and you see external cables, but can get very capable bikes at affordable prices https://lunacycle.com/mountain/

    Hi from New Zealand

Lol. I was constantly surprised at how few people there were - "major" roads and we often couldn't see anyone in front or behind us - except when we'd get stuck behind one of those underpowered combis who seem to all be rented by the worst drivers on the planet...grrr...and who never pull over...

    Hi from New Zealand

Nice bikes, but I'm more impressed with the empty beaches. Spent 3 weeks touring southern part of the south island last year. NZ is one of the very few places I'm sure I'll go back to visit.

    Gravel and Steep Hills

Luna Cycle tested a Specialized Turbo Levo that also has 250w "nominal" motor - and discovered it was pushing 700w peak.

First Ebike, want a mid drive with a throttle?

48v has more "oomph" than 36v. Throttle isn't a necessity as much as having torque sensing is imo. Less expensive bikes typically have cadence sensors that don't discern how much pedal force you are applying. So if you spin pedal lightly and slowly (like when you're cruising), it will apply...

E-bike Shopping: Juicedbikes (crosscurrent S) vs. Radcity vs. Addmotor (Hithot H5) vs. Cyclotricity vs. Ego (Seagull)

Biktrix and M2S have bikes in your price range. Have you tried the compare function on this site? Frame sizes vary widely from what I've experienced - what is labelled as large on some bikes are mediums on others - sadly, few of the low-cost or mid-range bikes offer geometry details.

First Ebike, want a mid drive with a throttle?

Biktrix just rec'd their shipment and might have some Juggernaut Ultra available - the Ultra is 1000w mid motor w/throttle and torque sensor. I feel your pain and annoyance - been waiting 4 months for mine (deliveries finally supposed to start this week)...

    750 Watts

Bafang's Ultra mid motor is nominally 750w/1000w with 1500w peak. Can program as needed. Big 160nm torque

    Decisions Decisions

Biktrix also sells some nice fatbike cruisers. If you're like me, the more time I took to decide, the more I convinced myself to up my budget. Expensive delay :)

Ah, well, misunderstood your desire to remove the posts. It's not like not talking about dongles will make them disappear. Let people make their own - informed - judgements.

? He didn't show much concern because he didn't believe there were many downsides beyond those he discussed. His cheap hack accomplished the same effect as some very expensive dongles, which was the point of his OP. If you install a dongle, you're creating many of the same potential issues...

    Stromer ST2 2017 vs 2018, advice needed

Like others have said, 50km seems very short range for that size battery. Raising tire pressure and installing a good suspension seatpost might be a better way to increase ride comfort w/out compromising range.

    Another 'what E-bike' query :-)

Most all ebikes have variable levels of assist that your wife can select via a handlebar-mounted switch - 3-5 levels of assist are typical. Higher levels provide more power, but also drain battery faster. Cadence sensors (found on less expensive bikes) activate the motor simply by spinning...

    Easy Motion ATOM X LYNX 6 27.5 + PRO 2018

I see it listed as in stock at a few larger dealers - dunno if accurate. Saw a video from BH/EasyMotion flack at Sea Otter last week saying roll out in June and that's what got me looking. Bike has some interesting geometry and features. First production bike I've seen using 21700 cells...
