2021 Rize Models - Shipping Thread

Well I have to say the RX Pro looks great, but the leisure step through reinforcement looks terrible. Several inches of step through height lost, and all those exposed welds when the rest of the bike is relatively clean. Definitely not designed well, so it looks like somebody realized there...

Install the chainring on the outside of the spider

I'd have to concur with m@Robertson, and the only thing I could suggest if you really want to try a workaround is to take the chainring and spider to a fastener specialty store and see if you could assemble something with a set of centering or cone washers that might help compensate for the...

    Aventon Aventure rear fender bracket

When my mother broke hers, I walked into my local bike shop with the old one for comparison, and he gave me one out of the parts bin for free. They're easy to source if you know the width.

Can a conventional mountain handle conversion kits

This one? https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?item=73767 If so, you're fine at mild to moderate power. It's a standard mid-range bike with 73mm bottom bracket, and nothing too unique to challenge you. Externally routed cables and standard parts. Should allow for a nice clean...

Is Bafang Finally Showing Their Hand

Not at all. In fact its a standard designed to make it easier and more reliable to integrate different components. It's widely used in most manufacturing, and simply allows a large number of unique components to communicate over 1 wire set (or bluetooth connection, etc).

Is Bafang Finally Showing Their Hand

I can only imagine that they would prefer to be a supplier to the big builders vs the DIY market they started in. That's where the big money and consistent contracts/revenue/growth are anyway. At this point, I can't see a business case for supporting products much more than say 5 years old...

Why Container Ships Can’t Sail Around the California Ports Bottleneck

Apparently they have worked out the labour issues with the union and are now processing containers there again...

Is Bafang Finally Showing Their Hand

I think its only a matter of time for folks to catch up to the Canbus change. Several builders on here have mentioned that they are working with Bafang right now to update the Canbus connection, and once some 3rd party options are available/scripts leaked, there should be a boost in parts and...

iPhone Mount / Recording on Rize bars

That is another reason I went to the Rokform system with my RAM mounts, as it has an available vibration dampener - that I've still got to order. The camera stopped working on my old iPhone after 4 years of hard use (non-stabilized), but it was well off contract so I didn't want to bother with...

Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

I have to admit, while I'm just not a drop bar guy in real life, I certainly love the look of a nice subtle set like that.

Aventon level shifting to 1st gear

Also check the "B Tension", or how close the upper jockey pulley is to the cog. It should be 1/2" or not much more. That pulley is what determines the incoming angle and alignment to the cog, and if it's too far away, any slight angle of the derailleur away from the centerline of the bike will...

iPhone Mount / Recording on Rize bars

I installed the 2-arm version of that one on both my RIZE bikes for phone and 2nd headlight mounting. Quite happy with them, just don't over tighten as they can strip out pretty easily. As for the OP - Phone mounts: I have long used a small-rig multi function clamp for general phone mounting...

    Repeated Flats

I ran on my flattened tube for a couple hundred meters before realizing it last month. After swapping out for a fresh one and getting home, I tried to patch the old one as it was just a simple nail puncture. 5 patches later, and it still wasn't holding air! lol I must have rolled a dozen...

Can a conventional mountain handle conversion kits

I'd also suggest that a really cheap bike shouldn't be converted. More hassle than it's worth, and cheap brakes and drivetrains components will reveal themselves quickly. But, if you have a solid quality and good condition MTB with mid-range or higher brand name parts, go for it. That's the...

    Tire Pressure for Aventure

I am a big guy, and I ride my 4" tires at 20 front/25 rear with my regular commuter cargo. I might go as high as 23F/28R if I'm loading up a ton of cargo, but you quickly lose the cushy benefit of fat tires up there. Normally, 15-20 all around is a nice mix of cushy and decent rolling...

    What is high milaage?

As others have indicated, mileage varies, but I would consider 750 miles with a single older owner and city/rail-to-trail use only to be a cream puff. As long as the battery was cared for and no wrecks, should be a safe bet. At the other end of the spectrum, 750 miles on a downhill or enduro...

Suggestions for a good bike seat

I am a fan of the Serfas gel lines if you like the soft seats. Several to chose from, and many sizes in the range. I put a super cruiser on one bike (absolutely gigantic), and a standard cruiser on the other. I really like the standard for most commuting and exercise riding...
