    SuperCommuter Mods

I was experiencing the same problem dropping my chain for no apparent reason, I attributed it to the fact that the front sprocket spins and sometimes just throws the chain off into the gap between the guard and sprocket. I solved the problem by having my LBS attach a plate on the inside of the...

Considering purchasing a Super Commuter+8S soon - timing OK?

The rack is a Bontrager BackRack model 14631. The eyelets on the front of the rack attach to a Bontrager eyeleted quick release seatpost clamp and it is installed over the existing rack. I am carrying a lot of weight in the bag with the two batteries and I am moving fast sometimes going off of...

Considering purchasing a Super Commuter+8S soon - timing OK?

My LBS installed it, no mods, it attaches with a seat post collar and existing eyelets at the axle. I have the bag secured with zip ties so it won't bounce off, I'm usually carrying two batteries. The bag also has panniers that drop down on both sides. Besides the fading (compare to XM 700 bag)...

TREK Domane+ 2019, thoughts, price, issue?

I have ridden road bikes for 30 years almost exclusively for sport although I did commute 20 miles round trip for a few of those. Now I am riding the Trek SuperCommuter and love it! My rides are almost always 40 to 70 miles and I carry one or two extra batteries in a very functional Topeak...

    Derestrict your Bosch/Trek e-bike?

I have Super Commuter 8+and it has had the bikespeed RS installed since day 1. The bike has 18,000 miles on it and I have had zero motor problems. The Purion reads the correct speed and the motor continues to assist as long as I can pedal. I changed the front chainring to an after market 22...

Survey for those with higher mileage (2000+) ebikes

Yes regular maintenance, so pretty much no repairs besides my rear wheel which takes a lot of abuse.

Survey for those with higher mileage (2000+) ebikes

I bought a Trek XM 700 Oct 2016 and put 7000 miles on it in 10 months. I then picked up a Trek Super Commuter July 2017 and now have 15,000 miles on it. On the XM I replaced the chain twice and went through a few sets of brake pads and a rotor. On the Super Commuter I changed the front chain...

Vado 3.0: Worn out cassette after 450 miles

The front chainring can be changed with a Bosch motor. The chainring spins and so a 17 tooth on a Bosch system is equivalent to a 42 on a conventional system, 2.5 times the teeth. I have my Trek SC tuned and run a 22 front chainring and a 11x46 in the rear.

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

The gearing has nothing to do with the tuning. You can change your front chainring with no worries about error messages.

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

No issues with the gearing at all I have the same setup on an xm700 with 8000 miles. The bike speed just removes the speed limit it does not make the bike more powerful it just allows the motor to assist at any speed.

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

I ride the 8s and have had my bike "tuned" with the bikespeed rs from day 1. This allows for the motor to still assist me as long as I can pedal. I changed the front chainring to a 22 which I found in Australia and in the rear I run an 11x46. The 22 tooth chainring is equivalent to a 55 on a...

    Free tuning method.

I have a Trek XM 700 and a Trek Supercommuter, both bikes are tuned with the bike speed dongle from the first week I owned them. I ride safely and respectfully. I don't often go over 28, but both bikes would start to lose power at about 26 mph and some of the rides I do with my road bike friends...

All year commuter in Norway, replacing car

I ride the Trek Super Commuter and love it! 27.5 x 2.4 inch wheels and tires, great fenders and awesome headlight, solid bike. This bike could easily replace a car for commuting. I carry an extra battery in a trunk bag and regularly ride 60-70 miles 4 or 5 days a week. I have 8000 miles on it.
