Thinking about winter commuting already - Surface 604 Electric

I haven't ridden in winter (yet), but I did find myself on a dirt road after a rain outside Hueston Woods State Park this week, and it wasn't fun. The road was slippery, and I ended up having to turn assist off on the Turbo because the rear wheel kept stepping out on me, even in Eco. Obviously...

    Easy motion motor maintenance

Mtnm - I think most bikes with a traditional drive train, including e-bikes, should not be left on it's right side, as it is very easy to bend the derailleur hanger or cause other drive train issues.

    RX 20 Enduro Hardtail---Yeah!

Congrats! Have you ever ridden a hub drive motor and offer a comparison of what it feels like climbing with each system?

Optibike 1100R Commuting Data, Summer 2012

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that you are likely the only person to have aero bars with a throttle and a bell on them! :)

    Grace availability in the USA

My guess is that if you can afford a Terminus, you can afford a SAG (support and gear) vehicle to follow you and toss bottles of Evian your way =)

    The EG Zurich 350 IX

John, Using Sheldon Brown's internal gear calculator you can calculate the maximum speed at various cadences given your setup. You will need to know chainring teeth, sprocket teeth, and crank arm length. If you don't know crank arm length (usually stamped on one of the arms) then just use...

Changing assist for a 2014 NeoJumper

Did anyone else notice that she stopped at a cafe and was using a Macbook, then pedals off with no bags or backpack?

    Speed, Distance, and Energy Consumption

You can actually come up with some decent estimates for this, using some online tools and a calculator. Start with this speed and power calculator. I am attaching a screen grab using my stats in a 22mph on flats on my Turbo as an example. We see that you need 401 watts to maintain that that...

    Where is it going...?

George - here is my theory on why you see comparatively less innovation on mobility products: insurance (public or private, I am not getting into that debate) is always going to push the majority of the market into the lowest cost option. If an insurer can save $500 per insured event by only...

    New Trek e-Bike?

Court - totally agree. I was only speaking of calling it underpowered until we get more info. But it certainly doesn't have the integrated look of a Turbo/ST-1/Neo type bike. Or the advantage of a down tube battery.

    Turbo Brake Squeal

Brian - Avid BB7s are the best mechanical I have seen/used. I have them on my Salsa touring bike and the fact that they have inboard and outboard adjustment of pads seals the deal. I'm not a huge fan of the spring clip retainer they use (as opposed to magnetic in a Magura) but it gets the job...

Ride Report for Falco Emotor Bike

I meant to ask one other question: are you able to use the Falco without their LCD display and just the Cycle Analyst, or is the Falco display required for PAS etc?

Ride Report for Falco Emotor Bike

Getting pretty efficient. Looks like the past couple of weeks you are averaging high 16's for wh/mi with average speeds in the low 20's. Those are excellent, I think. I'd love to see data like this on the Bosch system. My suspicion is that it has the potential to be very efficient, however...

Post pics of your Stromer here

Charge port looks very similar to the Turbo. Is it a magnetic connection as well? Great pics.

    Commuter Log

I forgot to type a post in regards to the flat - there is one thing you might try next time to avoid the double flat: Before you remove the tire, mark the tire at a point concentric to the valve stem (I just smear lube from the chain). Do this on a sidewall. Remove the tube, and mark the side...

Awesome work! What do you have your ECO set at? I think factory is 30%, though I bumped mine to 60% so I would use it more.

Is there an eBike that will allow me to maintain 28mph?

Brambor, I completely agree. While I can cruise at 25 on my Turbo, I actually don't like to, as I find it very hard to hear traffic and be aware of what's going on behind me. I am much more comfortable at 20mph.
