Help with choosing a roof rack for Electra Cruiser Lux Fat Tyre 7D

20 kg is relatively light among ebikes, but have you put some serious thought into how you're going to get the bike on and off the rack? Yeah, it may be doable but may not be particularly easy or enjoyable. TT

Bafang m400 mid drive no pedal assist???

Whatever fixed it, great. I want to point out though that we don't know if it was a reboot or if the taking the battery off and putting it back on made for a good connection that wasn't quite there before. Regardless, glad you're up and running and thanks for reporting back. Now, another "for...

Bafang m400 mid drive no pedal assist???

I'll just say that if you don't have a good mechanical connection, ain't nothin' gonna work. These products will help with making the connection clean and therefore reduce any unwanted ohms. The dielectric grease (or other product) will get pressed out of that connection and become a barrier...

    What Would You Have Done?

As for bear spray, if you don't remember, you can google the story about the ex-cop at a movie theater in Florida who shot and killed a guy who threw his popcorn at him AND got away with it. If it's justifiable to kill a guy for throwing popcorn, I would think being bear-sprayed would a sure...

Bafang m400 mid drive no pedal assist???

You DO use it on the contacts, absolutely. It doesn't interfere with the metal-to-metal contacts at all. It cleans them and protects them from corrosion. The tiniest patina on the contacts can stop the flow of electricity. These products prevent that. This also protects from water intrusion...

Bafang m400 mid drive no pedal assist???

While unplugging and plugging things back in, a little dielectric grease, Boeshield, or ACF-50 on all of the connections would probably be a good idea too. TT

    Kickstand mounting bolts stripped

Bolts from the inside work fine as long as they stay tight. If they start working loose and stick out (in) closer and closer to the rotor and the spokes you could be in for some serious nastiness. Nylocks are great and may prevent the problem, but why not put them on the inside, especially if...

    Kickstand mounting bolts stripped

Once you get the bolt out, I think I'd just put a fine threaded bolt back through and tighten it down with maybe a locknut and some Locktite. Use the biggest nut that will fit in the indent and the fattest bolt that will fit through without drilling out the threads, or drill out the threads and...

    Kickstand mounting bolts stripped

Thanks for the pictures. I can't tell though, are the holes in the chain stay threaded? If not, I'd think a whack or two on a punch would knock out the bolt. For the repair, there would be less risk to the rotor and spokes to put the nut on the inside, imo. TT

    Kickstand mounting bolts stripped

After all this, I'd really like to see some pictures of exactly what what came out of the hole. It sounds like a broken bolt and some sort of nut on the back side. No threads in the chainstay holes? That makes more sense, but I'd like to see pics! TT

    Kickstand mounting bolts stripped

Necessity is the mother of invention I guess. Can't say I like that solution, but sometimes you just do what you have to do. TT

    Kickstand mounting bolts stripped

That's a cheap, quick, easy fix, but, maybe depending on your attitude, it has kind of a Frankenstein look and you have a nut and bolt on the spokes side of the frame, which you have to consider. Heli-Coil is the name i couldn't think of a while ago. That's pretty much the standard way of...

    Kickstand mounting bolts stripped

There are variations on these, and of course they come in different sizes. Thread fixer. TT

Should We Eliminate the Time Change?

What o'clock it is is ultimately arbitrary. Why not have 10 or 100 hours in a day, if we want to use the decimal system? Then why not 100 seconds in a minute and 100 minutes in an hour? Why seconds, minutes, and hours anyway? If we keep hours, we could use letters instead of numbers. Ore...

Should We Eliminate the Time Change?

Are you talking about a mandatory standard that Arizona couldn't opt out of? I wonder how that would go over. And someone's already mentioned this, but EST is Eastern Standard Time, a geo-specific term, and DST is Daylight Savings Time, which is non-geo-specific. Two different things. What...

AHicks said: So let me see if I have this correct. Going back to your post #127, you are saying a cable operated disc brake can't be trusted to stop an e-bike? How is what you said much different? You said, "A bike with that duty cycle is stupidly underpowered brakewise as it...

Right. Having brake problems after zero maintenance is akin to wondering why your car won't go after letting it run out of gas. TT
