    Trek 2018 Bike - Powerfly FS9 LT

I was gonna get an 8FS+ someday and pass down my Powerfly 7 to my son, but this looks even better to me...

    Camping on my E-Bike

@Barkme Wolf - Our family have the Pocket Rocket stoves and like them. We also have a couple of 25 year old Scorpion that still work well but have a hose between stove and gas, so not as convenient although quite small.

Charging extra for e-MTBs. Fair or not?

Yeah, he talks about the eBikes being able to go twice as many laps (6-12 vs 4-5) hence the higher charge for wear and tear on the park trails. Obviously if there was an easier way to track the number of laps, I'd be okay with charging a fee per lap or per KM, but tracking the riders isn't...

    NYC Electric Bike Law

Yeah, maybe "used to it" but still not a good reason to accept this. The rest of the country doesn't call it NY City, it's FU City.

    Trek Powerfly 7, 2017

You might want to rethink the gearing change if you have to go on any steep climbs at lower speeds. So while I'm waiting for my replacement brake lever to come in tomorrow (my Powerfly 7 is still in the shop after the crash over Memorial Day weekend), I took my wife's Neko+ out for a 10 mile...

Best Lock for fat tire bike.

My wife and I have a 2-pack of Altor 560G Titanium folding locks, which can be used together or individually. As a 2-pack they came keyed the same, with 4 keys and 2 bottle-cage boss mounts. The only thing that can get through these are multiple hacksaw blades and a whole lot of time, or an...

Best way to lock a folding ebike?

I too have had Kryptonite U-locks freeze up on me and refuse to open. I gave them away each time, warning the new owner. You could try spraying all kinds of lubricants into the lock in various spots, to try to free up the mechanism. Also after lubricating, have someone beat it with a rubber...

Very beginner advice for hills, such as getting started on one.

The key advice here is plan ahead - downshift before you come to a complete stop, so that you can use pedaling in a low gear + throttle to get started again. Too much throttle from a stop with no pedaling, while heading uphill can overheat the motor. As you are using your brakes to slow down...

What do you carry on your bike?

Gack! I should have read the whole thread before I made my last post - didn't even know they made these, and I was giving a tutorial on how to make one.

What do you carry on your bike?

Maybe you could get an inner tube for a taller wheel/tire, cut it 180 degrees away from the valve stem, and tie each end or seal the cut ends, so now you have a C-shaped inner tube that would be shorter and the appropriate length for your wheel. Then you could fit the inner tube inside the tire...

    Trek Powerfly 7, 2017

I'd look for a larger front sprocket first, before tires, since a high cadence seems to be your main complaint. If that's not enough then I'd look at tires in the hope that reduces your effort, but the tires wont help if the cadence at 25-28 mph is already too high for you. I've found that the...

Riding eMtn Bike too slow and was run off the bike path

The bike shop estimate is in, at approx $90 parts and $65-75 in labor. I could have it back early next week but for one issue. The issue is that the new brake lever's finish doesn't match the original lever, which is a rich deep piano gloss black. The LBS is my Trek dealer and they called them...

Anyone know of a rear bike rack that works with Tesla Model S?

The weight issue is a very good point. My torklift ecohitch for WRX can support towing 3500 lbs with a 200lb tongue weight. My Yakima rack can hold two 60 lb ebikes and the Yakima itself weighs 49 lbs, so I should be safe with our 43 and 46 lbs Trek bikes.

    Battery life in hot climates

Well, I'm trusting Bosche to know just how fast to charge the battery, and how to not overcharge when it's done, and also to not let the cells run down too low before the bike shuts off.

Anyone know of a rear bike rack that works with Tesla Model S?

I bought my WRX Ecohitch Invisi from TorkliftCentral.com and they were easy to buy from and deal with. I'm using a Yakima Holdup 2 with it.

    Throttle addition for Levo Fatbike

I think it would not be for the faint of heart. You'd probably need a programmable microchip in the throttle to replicate the signals that the crank sends to the comtroller, to tell the controller how fast and hard you're pedaling when in fact you really aren't pedaling. Maybe it could go...

Riding eMtn Bike too slow and was run off the bike path

I should tell you, I was just being satirical with the last couple of posts, making fun of myself as a 55 yo geezer who needs a walker with tennis balls on the feet instead of a mountain bike.

Anyone know of a rear bike rack that works with Tesla Model S?

We tried using a trunk mount rack on our 2006 Subaru Tribeca and it worked, but once the we put on two adult bikes + two kids bikes we noticed the plastic dipped hooks were trying very hard to distort the car's sheet metal at the top of the hatch where we hooked the rack. We'd already bent the...

Let's see your best pic of your electric bicycle

Not the best picture here, but here is what I've got. It's my Trek Powerfly 7 which I took on a ride and picnic with my wife, who is riding a Trek Neko+ that's laying down behind my bike (kickstand broke right before we went on the ride). The bag under the seat holds tools, tire patch kit and...

Riding eMtn Bike too slow and was run off the bike path

Brilliant mock-up - I almost thought it was real and that someone thought of it before me. What about using old tennis balls with a slit on one side, so that they could slip onto the ends of the handlebars, like the way old people with walkers put them on the legs of their walkers to make...
