Since January, I have logged 6,044 recreational miles on my 3 e-bikes....Trek 8s, Giant Fastroad EX Pro, and the Specialized Vado 4.

Thank you for this post. I purchased my Vado 4 in June, and just noticed a few days ago, the rear light was NOT coming on. Upon inspection, same thing, wire severed near the tire. I am running 2.4 vs 2.3...and that might account for it, but it seems like a small design flaw on an otherwise...

That is probably correct...the 2022's have suspension forks and the downtube is narrower. Hope that helps.

Pricey, maybe.....but the Vado 4.0 is a steal when you consider all that you are getting in that package. I have owned other ebikes that were more expensive, but not quite as polished as the offering from Specialized.

No problem. A lot of people shun Specialized, including me, prior to actually riding one. The "hype" around these bikes is real. Everything about this bike was well though out, and it is a superbly engineered machine. Well done again to the team at Specialized.

Great information and insight. These forums are the best to resolve real life issues, fairly quickly. I pick up my second Fastroad EX Pro in 5 days. Hopefully I will not have any issues. At least, there are real answers and solutions to try. Take care.

I spoke with a LBS in Maryland this morning, who informed me that after months of prodding with Giant, they discovered that the “sudden shut-off” issue while riding was due to a batch of bad batteries with the wrong firmware. The LBS informed me that Giant swapped out all of the old batteries...

I had the same issue with my 2021 Fastroad, that I traded in at no cost for a Trek Allant 8s. The shop could never figure out why the bike was shutting off. It only had roughly 400 miles on it, and I loved the looks of that bike. Seems like Giant has not identified the gremlins yet for this...

Understood. Folks think there is only hype around how good and well engineered Specialized bikes are. I've owned 3 Giant ebikes (Roam, Explorer E+2, and Fastroad), plus my current Trek 8s.....and the Vado is just superior. The other brands are excellent choices, but when you ride this thing...

I ride with Schwalbe Super Moto X's 2.4 on both the Vado 4 and Trek....and the Vado coasts better...in fact, on my downhill test, it is the faster than the Trek...same tires and rider... :)
