    extra long suspension seat post

This is one of the longest/tallest as well, and very well rated: https://www.primeauvelo.com/en_ca/thudbuster-lt-g4-suspension-seatpost-420-mm-0029748?gclid=Cj0KCQjwr-SSBhC9ARIsANhzu16MuqH7s9kuRFOD9Q6G9N4FltaYna5vzg5nDaaJz73wQUhoX77KGUIaAvlXEALw_wcB

Online companies vs the Established bike manufacturers

Dealing with a local shop or major manufacturer almost guarantees you will get service. Some local shops won't touch mail-order bikes, or ebikes they didn't sell. Worth asking around your area if that is a concern to you.. You'll occasionally hear frustrating stories on here from folks who...

    Happy Easter

We don't observe the catholic services in our family anymore, but it's still a great opportunity for family get-togethers and big meals. Besides, I'm just about 50, but still enjoy a good chocolate Easter bunny! Happy Easter! :-D

    Why is everything Elon scam-ish?

Over on the Victoria side it's the same. Can't throw a ball-bearing without hitting a Tesla. ;-) But seriously, I have no problem with them and would actually like a model X. Just beyond what I'm comfortable paying for a vehicle. I still enjoy poking fun at Elon though, as he is a bit off...

Can I charge my battery with a DC 12v to DC 48v step up converter?

I'm no Rocket Surgeon, but most modern smart chargers have a ramp-down charge rate as they exceed 80%, and the last 90% charges slowly to prevent excessive heat and battery damage. If you were to charge "unregulated" to 80% or so, you would probably be OK, but the better bet on single stage...

My favorite Tesla marketing video (gone-wrong) ever! :)

What do you HATE about your fat tires?

I still absolutely love my fatties for mixed surface riding, although I agree that some tires prone to self-steering are self-defeating if you have to max them out. The stock 4" Kendas were great handling, but poor wearing. I have Vee Chicanes on one bike now, but they self steer unless pumped...

    250-300Nm of torque?

Definitely, and even just us big guys on regular bikes. My Ultra is 'generous' for most of my riding, but I would seldom say overpowered when graded overall. I may be able to do >45kph easily on level ground, but I slow to 20-25 on moderate hills, and steep hills will still get me down to...

    Batteries

Is it working right now? Lithium has a pretty low discharge rate, and a pretty good cold tolerance in storage, so as long as it wasn't put away at 20% or less, or saw temps waaay below freezing, it may be just fine? Assuming a high 2% discharge rate for 6 months, that's only <12%, and in the...

    Charging question - don't overcharge?

As Stefan has stated, it's pretty well established now that leaving 'reputable' products like yours on a good smart charger won't overcharge, and they should balance the cells on their own, but the 20-80% advice is also valid for a different reason. The chemical composition in lithium batteries...

    Ebiking and chronic pain

Welcome aboard! And as an aside to you comment about a properly fitted bike. If anyone needs some anecdotal evidence of the value of a professional (or even just educated) fitting, watch this video link below. This Youtuber (Mary Spender) is a popular musician, but loves biking and made a...

Will Ebikes become a fad in the US?

The fact that Trek and Specialized in particular are buying out LBS' at alarming rates (discussed in other thread here on EBR) says 2 things at least: 1. They see the need and/or value to remove the competition and complexity of small dealer agreements and support models. 2. They see the value...

    Instead of banning certain members...

It's a moderation burden and tough for small teams, but many larger sites with broader topic sets will define and post the rules around respectful language and treatment of participants, and then use a combination of warnings, temporary account suspensions, and or permanent closures. A.k.a ye...

    Bad Builds & Ugly Bikes

That's the short-wheelbase model. Excellent turning radius for the toe-less rider. Also known as the 'Jesus' mod, as the front tire has the ability to walk on top of the water at high speed... :p

    250-300Nm of torque?

As someone who is completely happy with the power output aspect of my Ultra, the thing that I see as most appealing here is the removal of any shift interconnect problems. This will shift as well under throttle as my hub drive, and completely eliminate the automatic power disconnect that is...

Ebike recommendation for Victoria, BC Commute

That is pretty much my exact commute. Esquimalt to Keating Cross. I have 2 Rize bikes, a 750 hub, and a 1000w mid-drive Ultra - both unlocked and unrestricted. The mid-drive is my main ride for commuting, because I can sustain 40kph quite easily, and hills are insignificant (I'm a large guy...

This one made me smile this morning - Daily Mail: Putin Arrests FSB Chiefs Not surprising that he is looking for scapegoats. Also suggests the party men he has surrounded himself with are more concerned with telling him what he wants to hear, instead of the actual truth on the ground. Scary...
