    Softening the ride without breaking the bank

    I’ve got about 1500 miles on it and am very satisfied with it. I looked at it closely just before writing this to see whether there was any visible wear. It looks like new. The elastomer did seem to soften after a few weeks of riding, but I think it was breaking in rather than breaking down...

    Softening the ride without breaking the bank

    As long as there is some pressure from the preload spring on the cap I wouldn't imagine it would loosen itself. A quarter turn after it has made contact with the spring I can't turn it by hand.

    Insights into the benefits of direct drive motor from Europe's top manufacturer GoSwiss drive systems

    The U.S. market is another huge potential for the direction Stromer is taking. Many states allow speed pedelecs without additional restrictions like licensing or motorcylce helmets. Ebikes have only begun to make an impact, but in my town they are the fastest growing sector in the two bike...

    Softening the ride without breaking the bank

    I spent a lot of time playing with the spring preload. The day after I bought it I went to a stretch of road near my house that needs repair desperately. I spent the better part of an hour riding over cracks, broken pavement and potholes, hopping on and off my bike with Allen wrench in hand...

    This looks like a deal too good to be true. If not, someone will get a great bike at a spectacular price.

    $2900 U.S. for a good used 17" ST2s. For real? (Link Removed - No Longer Exists)

    Rearview mirror standard on ST2 -bikes ? If not, any mirrror to reccomend ?

    I bought a cheap Venzo mirror with a stainless steel reflector from Amazon.com. It works well enough to see whether there is anything behind me. I always turn my head to get a better gauge of distance, but it works well enough. The position makes it easy to glance without moving my head, and...

    Can't get any support from Stromer. What am I doing wrong?

    I paid *(edit for propriety's sake. It was significantly lower than retail) for my brand new ST2 last summer. I'm sure it was a great deal, but MAP and selling prices are often very different. It's easy to compare the price of a small online-only manufacturer with a major brand and believe...

    Upgrading an ST2 to the Di2 derailleur/ cassette of the ST2s

    Here's a bump to an old thread. Today I replaced my ST2's OEM XT derailleur with an XT clutch derailleur. That's the one that should have come with the bike in the first place. As a commuter, I ride on some pretty rough roads at relatively high speed. Though I didn't have a problem with...

    Softening the ride without breaking the bank

    The Trek model I got (they have a swept City version, a straighter Trek, and the flat MTB version) are pretty stiff. They take away the vibrations very well, but they don’t flex nearly as much as the MTB version in the videos. The MTB version has replaceable flex sections to tune it to the way...

    Stromer ST2 Battery Upgrade (814WHr -> 983 WHr) Possible?

    Thanks for the update. I'd love to see some pics. Is solder sufficient for this kind of build? I though a weld was necessary to create a solid connection unable to be broken by heat or vibration and to minimize resistance.. I don't know how hot the individual cells get under heavy current...

    Mud flaps

    Is there a trick to getting the fender end caps off? I tried simply wiggling and pulling, but I felt as though I'd break something if I pulled any harder and they wouldn't budge..

    2017 Elite with Big Ben tires: Tuffy or Slime needed?

    I swapped the Big Bens on my ST2 today for a pair of Marathon GT365s. I kept the Tuffy liners I had been using with the OEM Big Bens, and used Slime tubes. I sanded the edges of the tire liners to smooth out the edges (thanks Ravi for the suggestion). If I get a flat I won’t be upset that I...

    Stromer still viable in the USA?

    I bought my ST2 from Lenny's in June. I've been in contact with them a few times since- first to get a new motor control cable when mine failed the first week I had the bike. I've requested from them (and received promptly) a new set of rack stay screws when I messed mine up by not having the...

    Headlight on st2

    Thanks so much for this diagram. I wish the whole schematic was available but I suspect they keep that under tight wraps. When I replaced the motor control cable on my ST2 I was so focussed on making sure I was doing it properly that I didn't spend any time poking around "under the hood" when...

    Headlight on st2

    I added a Niterider 1100 boost to the hardwired OEM light. I only put it on if I'm planning specifically to ride at night. The OEM one certainly works, but the Niterider makes it much safer to travel at high speed. I wish I could have found a hardwired version that I could replace the...

    New Winter Tires for ST2?

    I've had similar experiences with the Big Bens on my ST2 as well. I am waffling between buying studded and non-studded tires for this winter. It will be the first winter that I plan to commute by ebike. I went to the Continental website and noticed the 26" Top Contact Winter tires come in...

    App stopped working, cannot log in on phone

    That was the ticket. It took two tries, but after trying everything else imaginable multiple times I figured I might as well try this again. I'm not sure whether it was something phone-related or something bike-related. Whatever. It worked. Thanks for the suggestion.

    App stopped working, cannot log in on phone

    That's about it. It worked fine for the past three months. Today it prompted me to enter my credentials. It wouldn't accept them. I've reset my password and done everything I can think of to get it to connect. Anyone else had this happen? Any suggestions? FWIW, I am using a Samsung...

    Tell Us About Your Commute.

    My commute is 9.5 miles round trip by bike, about 14 by car. By bike the ride is about 13 minutes, by car it's 25-30 depending on traffic. I live in a suburban neighborhood in Vermont and we have lots of large hills. A short bike/foot path connects my hilltop neighborhood to an adjoining...

    Stromer ST2 Battery Upgrade (814WHr -> 983 WHr) Possible?

    I bought a "not working or for parts" 814 Wh gold battery on eBay a few months ago for $150. I planned to have a friend who is in graduate school (and has access to the University's battery lab and spot-welder) rebuild it. When it arrived I found that it actually worked just fine. It has...
