any suggestions for an older, 300 lb, tall rider with a bad knee for an electric bike

I second the Pedego but would choose the Boomerang with mag wheels. If your arthritis acts up you'll appreciate the low step through for mounting. It's featured on their web site as a testimonial from a former 300 lb woman.

    Confusion Choosing a Second Ebike

A good bike shop can retrofit new shock forks on your CC. If it's great in every other respect, then upgrade is cheaper on a bike that already makes you happy. I just read a post from an Interceptor owner who made 20 upgrades. Forks and new fenders were shown. Not sure how to link it but will try.

Canadian Winter Ready Comfort Commuter - Research Stalemate

Hi Amanda The benefit of a test drive! And a local shop who seem interested in fitting you correctly. I think you should abort the on-line purchase. After reading the thread, I think you will benefit by establishing a relationship with a bike shop. They can fit you on the bike, make future...

Canadian Winter Ready Comfort Commuter - Research Stalemate

Reaching out to Ravi since he lived in Waterloo Ont. Maybe now thinking of moving back @Ravi Kempaiah can you offer this Canadian some guidance on ebikes compliant with Ontario laws? Seems she is best served with low wattage step through and moderate width tires. Thanks

Canadian Winter Ready Comfort Commuter - Research Stalemate

In NYS ebikes are technically illegal because there is no classification for them to fall under. At the federal level they are classed as bicycles and consequently legal products to sell and own. Some states are writing classifications to eliminate this grey area and contradiction. Most recent...

PS. Depending where you live, even regular bikes are illegal on sidewalks anyway. Bikes are vehicles first.

Canadian Winter Ready Comfort Commuter - Research Stalemate

If the bike is perfect for you then get it. There are too many criteria (and models) to factor into a 100% decision. So when you are 80 % confident in a model, go for it. However do take a test drive if at all possible. It can be a deal breaker if the bike just doesn't handle well for you. Btw...

Alt ST2. Any big boy bike bargains?

Thanks guys. I've ridden Pedego Interceptor, City Comm, and Ridge Runner. Also an iZip, Townie, and another Bosch mid drive (forgot name). So far no speed Pedelecs but I have noticed my desire to exceed 20 mph already. Probably coming from my younger years with motorcycles. Since The first bike...

The folding Pedego Latch should be on your list. The battery holder protects the connectors. There's also some marine grade gel that boaters on salt water use to protect battery posts and cables. I'd consider using this on the motor exterior due to road salt, even dry salted roads kick up some...

Alt ST2. Any big boy bike bargains?

Hi guys. So now I'm looking for my first ebike. Having read and binge watched multiple reviews, I could use some community guidance. Unlike Court, I'm 6'2" and 230 lbs. So it's hard to get a feel for the specs listed and what to avoid. Here's what I'd like: - 70% Street, 30% Hardpack former...

Why Electric Bikes Shouldn't Be Allowed on Mountain Biking Trails?

Hi Court. I think the trail issue depends on 1) walking only trails, vs Multi Use Trails. In my area we have a great local trail system but its walking only. The folks that 'own' these trails are very protective and lobby town government against any and all bicycle friendly plans irrespective...

Best Rear Rack for Trail Tracker!

Regarding bolts loosening sometimes, try using some threadlock, blue color version. It will hold them tight from vibrations and can still be broken with a wrench.

    Pedego vs. The World

Thanks All I've found an almost perfect location, on the Erie Canal and some residential streets with hills close by. It's a small place and not much room for inventory, a good thing. What's difficult is getting the numbers to work. No matter how hard I scrub the assumptions, it's indeed a...

    Pedego vs. The World

Thanks for the great advice. I will follow up with Rocket. It sounds very similar to what would be my future fallback model. Pedego is pretty focused on 40+ year olds wanting back into biking for fun. I have a reasonable demographic for this, for now. But lots of awareness building is needed...

    Pedego vs. The World

I'm thinking of opening a Pedego store in upstate NY. Their model range is good, and reliability seems robust. But it's an exclusive relationship for full brand support. Would you share your ebike shopping experience, whether y o u considered a Pedego model and what bike you ultimately bought...
