"Service due check app" on TCU startup (Vado 5.0 IGH)

My bike started generating a “service due” message@ 1K miles. Annoying with each start. The only reset was through the Bosch service app. However, my tech & I agreed and he set the next notice @ 100K. Yes, the service due message is a good reminder. Just like oil change reminders on cars.

    Bosch motor clarification question

Good to know re:more power available during high demand such as hills. My wife is a power hill climber few can keep up with. Including me! But now I have NO excuse. No pity for me!

Bosch gen 3 performance, strange issue, torque sensor?

The % coasting is close to equal for all assist levels. Average speeds are anywhere from 10mph to 26mph. And I like to stand on my pedals and coast a lot.

    Bosch motor clarification question

Your answer is really, really clear! Ok, not so mush. And I was a physics major! I should remember this stuff! So, the 85Nm motor (mine) requires less pedal torque than the 65Nm (wife’s) to propel the bike for the same distance? Great! Now my wife has another reason to call me lazy!

    Bosch motor clarification question

What is the difference between the Performance Speed motor that I have on my Trek Allant and the Performance Line Sport on my wife’s Trek Verve 4s? Both are Class 3 28mph, but the Sport is rated at 65Nm while the Speed is rated at 85Nm. What does Nm refer to?

Bosch gen 3 performance, strange issue, torque sensor?

I couldn’t download your video so I am not clear on your problem. Can I relate an oddity from my last Bosch Motor performance report? (Performance Speed motor) The report for the last 1,200 miles indicated the motor assist at all levels was only working for about 60% of total run time. Given...

Best replacement tires for NCM Moscow for urban settings?

My bike came with Schwalbe G Ones. 27.5x2.40. I really liked the tires. Virtually no wear after 3.3k miles. My only complaint was they were too soft and prone to punctures that were really inconvenient on the Trail. And they are noisy tires compared to the GravelKings. Convinced by my LBS to...

Best replacement tires for NCM Moscow for urban settings?

My recommendation is Panaracer Gravelkings. Very good tires for my multi-surface riding. I ride them tubeless.

Rode up on homeless person sleeping on bike trail.

With the number of migrants entering Arizona, we encountered encampments frequently. Especially under highways. Difficult living, more so during cold nights. All ages including small children. And, these folks are not all migrants. One very large city park had to remove all porta-potties...

    Electric Car thread

The EOY T3 sales were compelling, but also lost on me, although the driving experience is exhilarating. But so is driving my S2000. Daily drive now is Honda CRV Hybrid and am enjoying the ride. When my wife lets me drive it.

Unsolicited comments about your ebike lately?

I enjoy and appreciate the “nice bike” comments but also genuinely try to reciprocate with a “cool bike” or similar in return. And I toss in a smile with the compliment. We all like to hear those words! Right?

Does anyone suffer from battery range anxiety like people do with electric vehicles?

I added the Bosch 500W Range Extender to my 2 favorite bikes and then swap the battery to whichever bike I am riding. That 500W added to the 725W RIB on board provides me with 60+ miles of flat-out Turbo, or 260 miles of weenie ECO.

    Electric Car thread

A friend here and I took a road trip in my Honda CRV hybrid yesterday. He hadn’t driven a hybrid before so we chatted about several different features of such vehicles. However, I neglected to mention one feature that was although not unique to this vehicle, had at one time made me think, huh...

    Disappointed after purchasing an e-bike?

Yes, agree per rear rack that I adapted with an MIK rack adapter sold thru Giant. Once we (friends on EBR) figured out a solid mounting process I have been relatively pleased with the results. However, could be more attractive and easier to unclip from if Trek had used the same rack as they put...

Finally got a rack but have questions about ebike transport.

Also consider taking off seats. Or cover them. Keep them dry? And plastic cable ties to keep your bike cables from unnecessary flapping in the wind. Definitely take batteries out. A rear-end bump could send them bouncing down the highway. We travel 1,800 miles cross country with no problems...

How Many e-Bikes do you have and ride ??

You are making good choices in bikes. I have purchased 7 Treks (5 e-bikes) in the past 4 years. My favorite in the Allant 7s ~9k miles. Recently bought an 8s that I will now keep at my AZ home. Another great bike. 1,400 miles this winter. I also have a Verve+3 that I have abandoned. My wife...

    Disappointed after purchasing an e-bike?

The basic Purion provides all of the necessary controls I require. The very first thing the Trek Tech who built my bike advised me was to never put my phone into the smartphone clamp as it is highly unreliable with most phones falling out. Whereupon I used large rubber bands in addition to the...

Today’s Gag Every Saturday morning our Resort biking group of 20+ regular riders assembles for an hour ride then a return to our Bistro for post-ride food & libations. Disappointed after purchasing an e-bike?

Disappointed? Yes with Trek’s choice to put a ridiculous Bosch smartphone controller on their bikes. Changed mine immediately to the excellent Bosch Kiox 2. Who makes those poor decisions? Certainly not anyone who used the Smartphone controller.
