Delite/Superdelite Mountain with 29er Front Wheel

Has anyone tried a mullet set up adding a 29er front wheel to their R&M Mountain? I do a lot of off road riding on my SD Mountain, especially technical climbs, and I was wondering how the Mountain would feel with the larger sized front wheel to help rolling over obstacles? In theory the 29ers...

    2021–2022 Riese & Müller Homage

I have been using Tannus for a year now with no punctures. They are not 100% puncture resistant as a couple of others have noted, but pretty damned good. Additionally the riding is more cushioned and sharp hits reduced to dull thuds. I will always ride with Tannus going forward.

    Squeaky Belt - how common?

It’s the dry dusty conditions Sam. I use silicon spray (CRC), and had to do it only once in the 12 months I had my Delite, riding a similar amount to you. make sure you don’t get spray onto your disc breaks!

Are bar ends even needed on the Homage, with such a plush upright riding position? I used the bar ends on my Delite (GP3) a few times on the road/paved cycle trail, but for off-road and single track riding I never used them in the 12 months I was riding with them (80% off road). A few times...

R&M SD Belt keeps coming off

Be careful not to twist the belt as it can damage the carbon fibres leading to belt failure. There is a warning about this in the belt manual. It sounds like belt tension, or maybe the snubber wheel near the rear hub needs sdjusting?

    RM Changes for 2022

The main innovations to come in the near future could include electronic suspension, automatic gear changing, and combined motor/gear hub drive,

With the Vario and eMTB mode I had to work quite hard when not on trails, so I had it switched back to Sport and it was more pleasurable. With the Rohloff (on my Mountain) eMTB seems to hit the sweet spot and I have no plans to change it to Sport. My gut feeling is stick to Sport for your...

    OBSERVATIONS ON 155mm CRANKS

Hi JK1, I mentioned to my LBS that they would need to adjust the Bosch software, and they indicated they had done this for a 165mm crank before. I forgot to ask them if they actually did change anything, but my hunch is they did.

    OBSERVATIONS ON 155mm CRANKS

I ride 80% off road, including MTB singletrack. I will still get pedal strike if I am not careful, but so far (a week) I have gone up technical climbs without issue and with more confidence. The shorter crank raises the pedal by 2cm so you may have to make a call from there. The Mountain also...

    OBSERVATIONS ON 155mm CRANKS

The R&M cranks I received on my SD Mountain Rohloff were 175mm, and they were the same on my 2020 Delite and Susie’s 2020 Homage. I did some research, and it seemed to me that shorter cranks had few drawbacks on an ebike, and obviously gave the pedals more ground clearance, so I purchased some...

I’m still learning David. I only figured the suspension thing out about 6 months ago after plucking up the courage to give it a go one bored Sunday 😊.

Great write up on setting up suspension @Stefan Mikes . That is exactly how I would explain it in my head, but you have done a much better job, and the images are very helpful. Nicely done. 👍

    Seatpost suspension on bi-suspension RM?

Agreed. We have some steep roads as well as trails here (my typical altitude game on a ride is around 600m), and dropping my seat, makes those often fast descents, feel safer and more stable. I am extra cautious on roads now I am riding Nobby Nics, so dropping my centre of gravity with the...

Fingers crossed that 20mm is negligible on the geometry. I would image it is better to go +20mm than -20mm. Thanks for the response. I probably didn't need much convincing, and the main thing for me was that it is feasible to swop the Suntour out for the Fox. I remembered you saying some...

    Seatpost suspension on bi-suspension RM?

And to add to this, it allows you to lower your seat on the fly, getting a lower centre of gravity for steep hills, on or off road.

    Seatpost suspension on bi-suspension RM?

My recommendation is to install Tannus Tyre Armour. Not only will it prevent a lot of punctures, but you can lower the tyre pressure considerably, or even on relatively high tyre pressure it adds extra cushioning and sucking up of micro vibrations. It gets 5/5 from me, with no downsides other...

Which tires come on 2021 Superdelite GX?

I can speak only for the Rock Razors. An excellent hybrid tyre designed for road and light trail use. They grip well in gravel making them stable rather than playful, and have ok roll resistance for pavement. For pavement only there are better tyres, and for mostly trail, likewise there are...

Do report back please @Alaskan on how your wife noticed/enjoyed the different ride. The 2021 Homage would be the perfect bike for my wife with Fox. She very much prefers her Homage to my bike, except she loves my Fox suspension.

    Time from order to delivery.

I think the HD are a great Tyre, half way between the Rock Razors and the Nobby Nicks. I think I’d prefer them actually.
