On 26 X 4.0 I run 16 up front an 14 in the rear. 14 in the rear is for a little more suspension. I am running 20 psi on my 20 x 4.0 vees as well. Going try some lower pressures for the road.

They are shipping bikes from China with the Ultra and the steel gear. Doesn't sound like an experiment to me. People are riding Ultras with steel gears. Not trying to be confrontational. Steel gears are not a complete failure.

For those with a freewheel the sunrace megadrive 13-34 is a good option. 34-28 1st and 2nd gear better than the Shimano mega gear. There are nice wide range alternatives in 8 and 9 speed cassettes. 11-40 available in both.
