Well, I went ahead and ordered the Vado 5.0 IGH

Manual gear change definitely is the way to go here!

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Vado 5.0 IGH

I read above about the concern not being able to get into the highest gear - the IGH will automatically select which is the best gear depending on a combination of factors such as amount of force you are putting down on the pedal as well as wheel resistance and spin,(ie torque and cadence...

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Vado 5.0 IGH

Yes - there is a thread here about only getting up to 45kph after getting up and over 100rpm, which was rather hard on the legs as you are really spinning! But this is mostly due to Specialized putting a larger 24 t cog on the rear (apparently other models had 22t and they have now changed this...

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Vado 5.0 IGH

The cadence step settings of 'Slowest" to "Fastest" are crude steps of RPMs and you usually only set this up once and then leave it on the level that suits you based on how tall you are, your natural leg power and riding style. But while riding you can use the controller to adjust the cadence in...

    Happy wife, Happy Life!

Haha - I finally read through the thread and your trials and tribulations. Sorry to hear about it. Just to let you know I have had no issues with my IGH but I did realise before buying that with new tech comes a risk that I was prepared to accept

Specialized Vado 5.0 IGH Cadence Survey

Just getting back to you about my experience with changing to a smaller 22t cog as one of the other forum members contacted me about this. I have only managed to get out twice since I had the smaller cog fitted but I was very impressed with the improvement. Besides extra speed at the top end I...

Specialized Vado 5.0 IGH Cadence Survey

I agree with that. I have never been an active bike rider and gear shifting has always been a hassle. As for belts - well it just seems a logical technology progression. I lifted the hood of my car the other day and there's not much you can touch there either if you break down.

Instructions for PearTune 4.0 MSO on 2022 Turbo Vado

Some of us have found that some batches of bikes have a larger rear cog (24-tooth instead of 22t) - which means a top assisted speed less that 45kmh. I have just swapped the cog out so it will be interesting to see the results. see this thread...

Specialized Vado 5.0 IGH Cadence Survey

Finally - the 22T cog arrived and is now fitted :) - unfortunately it is like a blizzard outside at the moment but once the weather clears I will take the bike out and conduct a speed test to see what its like compared to the results most of us in this thread were getting..... .

    Enviolo App changes

The previous version didn't offer much and I hadn't really use it. I have only downloaded a firmware update with this new version, and adjusted the "start after stop" gear.

    Enviolo App changes

Anyone else notice the Enviolo app has a new look? And It prompted me to download an update to the hub - will be interesting to see if I notice anything while riding (I have a Como 5 IGH)

    Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH Step-Through

Enjoy! I have the Como5 IGH and love it. Auto gears take a bit of getting used to. As per other threads, at top speed you sometimes feel the need for an extra gear and I'm getting the back cog changed out to a smaller one. Its a great system.

Specialized Vado 5.0 IGH Cadence Survey

I'm doing the same - my bike shop had a chat with Specialized and they are going to swap out the rear cog for the smaller 22 tooth as it will still work with the same belt and provide slightly more speed without too much of a sacrifice on hills. Let us know how it feels for you.

Specialized Vado 5.0 IGH Cadence Survey

Yeah - I'm in the same boat. Cadence setting is on "Slowest" and in Turbo mode (ie max power) - I get around 42-43kph (around 26mph) on the flat with no wind, but with a cadence or over 100rpm. I have just had a chat on the phone with the bike shop. They feel its the gear ratios and if you want...
