E-Bike Batteries Are Catching on Fire Way Too Often And delivery workers are demanding safe charging stations.

Oh sorry, not that cool, just the Xiaoxiang BMS app (actually there are a few versions of it, just one that lets you watch per-cells voltages). When cells are basically balanced either putting big charge load seeing one cell read much higher than the rest, or putting on big discharge and seeing...

E-Bike Batteries Are Catching on Fire Way Too Often And delivery workers are demanding safe charging stations.

That musta been a huge quad, but yeah I got piles of lipos for quads.. they get abused all the time, 2 minutes to overdischarged.. I only charge packs at 3-4C, but I know lots of people who charge 5-10C to help heat pack up before flight. Its crazy how much you can abuse packs and I'm not...

FWIW, though probably you're just not double-clicking 'I' to get into initial menu. I think once you get in there its easy... just hit 'I' twice quickly.

    Hydra Batterie Question

I could imagine it being even a cm longer or something such that brackets only fit one pack or the other but not both... but turns out that's not the case. I contacted Pushkar and the two packs are basically interchangable. There are two issues: The display's percentage remaining. The 'motor'...

    Hydra Batterie Question

Oh man, don’t know if everything supports swapping between 48v and 52v batteries.. but even if it did, I doubt they’re exact same physical size. I dunno I’m going to ask though.. I wanted a 2nd battery anyways.

Worth the wait, Hydra is here.

Only Tannus sells inserts for tubes, everyone else (well including Tannus now too) sells inserts for tubeless, maybe like 6-8 companies sell inserts. They got popular a few years ago with downhill, let people run lower tire pressures without risking damaging rims if they hit a big rock or...

TannusArmour has an insert for fat tires, but only with tubes. I don't know of any tubeless fattire inserts.

    Hydra Batterie Question

On one hand I'd be a little wary of putting 50A though 30A BMS, though I know with SurRon some of them put like >70A though 40A BMS or something. Probably just comes down to BMS and what mosfets they actually have and how well they're cooled more than the sticker on them.

    Hydra Batterie Question

Generally bigger battery can put out more watts.. eg Samsung 35E is rated for 13A non-continous. 13s5p pack that's 13*3.7*5*13=3126.5watts. 14s4p that's 14*3.7*4*13=2693watts. That's what 35Es can do within spec. Interestingly these packs have a 30A BMS, though if you look at settings over...

So I switched bike over to tubeless and installed CushCore inserts. Coming from XC bike with narrow 29x2.1" tires the 27.5x3.0" tires felt huge and I was having a little trouble feeling confident in turns with them. Just figured it was something I'd get used to. I had front tire at 26psi and...

    Hydra Batterie Question

Honestly I never really thought it out, bikes with Bosch motors having 625wH packs and Hydra offered 800wH pack.. 30% more capacity, great. That was literally the throught process. I didn't really think was it a 14p4s or 14p5s pack or how it got to 800wH.. but yeah like math doesn't really...

    Hydra Batterie Question

WTF 14s4p? That's huge difference from 14s5p. Its still advertised as 800wH? Its more of a 700wH pack. If you want to eg compare to a Bosch 625wH pack, Hydra has a 700wH. A 13s5p would have been preferrable, if 14s5p wasn't possible. Man this is super annoying.

Hydra v Trek Rail v Levo

Cool writeup. Yeah I've thought this a lot. I have to carry my bike out of house and have to step over two 3 foot baby gates along the way, every time I'm reminded of how heavy Hydra is, haha. Initially choice was a Hyrda with 800wH battery or a Levo or something with 625wH, I'm 220lbs so I...

BTW I got the 1/3 rotation with bike in air and wheel starting at a dead stop. Riding bike its harder to tell, it may be the same 1/3 rotation or it may be less. It may be safety thing where if your bike is not moving, and maybe your standing next to it and your leg touches pedals and moves...

There are ALWAYS more bolts. I was riding and kept hearing a noise I couldn't place, after looking 50 times I finally see it, a bolt in rear triangle is almost fully backed out. In fact I see it, I stop and get off bike, and me getting off bike the the final straw and falls out. Good timing...

    Hydra Quick Start Thread

FWIW with bike in the air and in Sport5 to make motor turning on super obvious, using hand to turn pedals it takes ~1/3 revolution for motor to turn on (Hydra w/Innotrace). I would guess this is intentional, there is no reason it would need that much movement. But this is why VESC-based...
