Future Innovation, Where Are We Going

I don’t know if you quoted me because you were responding to my post, or because it was the post that I began the thread with. Either way, I will respond to your post. Prices are set by a combination of supply and demand along with corporate greed, (not by “elitists”). There are many economy...

Thank you for taking us along, (virtually anyway), and for taking the time to share your adventure. Safe travels.

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

Hey, I resemble that remark!!! OK, fair enough. I think that Mr, Knight lives in NH, but is not from NH. To be honest, I am from elsewhere myself.

At least it wasn’t covid. I hope that the 52k goes well and that you can end the trip on a high note.

You have a great eye, (and a great backdrop to work with). It’s nice to see such unspoiled beauty.

    Forks

Most of the better suspension forks, and even the better rigid forks tend to require allowance for a tapered steerer tube, (1.5 to 1.125”). Many ebikes are 1.25 to 1.125” or straight 1.125”. You also will want to be careful about changing the bike’s geometry and handling, (travel and trail).

Mrs. Django didn’t feel like riding today, so I decided to take Wilbur out for a ride, (the only electronics were my phone and the Garmin). There was a chill in the air, but still a nice ride. Wilbur has been adjusted a little for comfort and a little gravel with 28 mm Panaracer Gravel King...

Timing is everything. Sorry about the motor, but glad that you weren’t in the middle of nowhere. Now you will be good for the next 14,000 kilometers.

Are mid drives just naturally less zippy than hub motors?

I think that you really need to assess a bike under all the conditions that you plan to use it.. Zero to 20, (or 28), isn’t necessarily everything, (or it can be). I like the natural feel of the mid drive with the torque sensor, (the more I give, the more it gives me). That feels zippy to me...

The new normal is a sad reality, (“an inconvenient truth “).

That’s spectacular! I would agree, well worth the trip. It must be even more awesome from the rider’s perspective. Thank you for sharing.

Beautiful countryside. I like the picture of the stream crossing, but the idea of submerging spinning wheel and bottom bracket bearings makes me cringe.

As autumn progresses, the colors fade and the leaves fall, but spring is coming, (after winter and mud season). I don’t mind the winter. It gives me an opportunity to catch on everything that I put off all summer. I put this little video together from yesterday’s ride. It was a bright and...

That’s the way to do it, (fun, food and good company). Thank you for sharing the adventure. I miss riding with my Czech friends. It was very different from the “training rides” that I have endured on this side of the pond, (they are fun, but a bit intense). Nowadays, I just ride for the love...

Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

When the foliage peaks, it fades away quickly. November is probably the dreariness month in the Northeast US. Late March and April are similar, but with Spring you feel more optimistic. Today was still beautiful and Ole Sparky still managed to photobomb some otherwise nice, past peak images...

    Thoughts Of An Experienced E-Biker

The statement “1000 watts is completely legal in the US.” is only partially true. Many states restrict the maximum output to 750 watts. While it is true that 1000 watt maximum output is legal in the US, in Washington State, (where Robspace 1 lives), 1000 watts is not legal, (750 maximum in...

MOPED TYPE EBIKES ARE THEY ALL SAME

I agree with PedalUma and think that it is a very relevant analogy. If someone doesn’t appreciate the difference between a $49 guitar and a Custom Shop Martin for example, then the Martin would be a waste of money. If someone does appreciate the difference, they will never be happy with the...
