New Features for Nyon2 scheduled april 2022

It's not the first time. It has been down twice at least since I got my bike a couple of months ago. Maybe it is because I'm in Australia and use it at times when they are doing maintenance, who knows.... I've hardly even used my bike (it's been raining non-stop for what seems like months) since...

    What is wrong with Spandex...

I used to LOVE inline skating. I used to regularly do the London Friday Night Skate and sometimes the Sunday Stroll (and I just looked it up and amazingly they still do it: https://www.lfns.co.uk/ ) back in the early 2000s. I still have my skates for some reason, I'm sure I'd break a hip now if...

    What is wrong with Spandex...

I wear lycra/spandex every. single. day. (lycra leggings/shorts + lycra tank top). I work from home and I workout (spin, weights, yoga, step, bike, swim) every day. It is a very functional material for exercise. If I don't put it on first thing in the morning, the likelihood of my not doing my...

Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

I do try to wear red to match my bike... The rest is black though as I really don't have many red clothing items (cycling or otherwise). I do have this awesome red skirt that breaks the monotony of the black shorts and tank top...

Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

I think that's what my partner thinks Xmas in Winnipeg would be like. Warm enough to go outside with a sweater and pick up snow with your bare hands. Not -32 with a windchill that will freeze bare skin in like 20 seconds! He really has no idea what is in store for him.

Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

Do you mean 1910? At least Winnipeg doesn't look like it's had any snow in June! I sure don't remember any growing up there. And I DO miss Winnipeg summers, the lakes, cottages etc. There's something special about surviving winter in Winnipeg and the joy that that summer brings (and all the warm...

Yes, 100 agree! My brother still lives there and my partner (who has never seen snow) wants to go there for Xmas... I'm not overly keen tbh!

Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

I never thought I'd utter these words after living my first 29 years in Winnipeg and then the next 10 in the UK, but winter is the best season!

Our Rides in Words, Photos & Videos

Why yes, yes there can be. I agree - too much sunshine yesterday. Despite being completely covered in layers of chemical and mechanical (zinc) sunscreen, I got somewhat sunburned during my hour long swim yesterday (because, even though the pool I go to was built in 2016 and Queensland is...

    Headlamp on M3 Moscow

Isn't it a switch you press on top of the light? That's what it is on my Milano anyway... Having a bell is a legal requirement here in Australia. Pedestrians are likely to get very annoyed if you don't ring your bell before passing them. Having said that, some of them get very annoyed when you...

New to EBR, 2 thumbs up for Sena R2 Helmets

We have had the R1s for a couple of years and love them. Makes riding together so much more fun. Though right now I do use them for music when riding alone, the sound is crap. I'm planning on buying some Aftershockz (shockz) to use instead.

New Features for Nyon2 scheduled april 2022

So my one hope for this update was that they'd make it easier to switch between Standard and Custom riding modes. Doesn't appear to have happened unfortunately. Does anybody know what this update "Menu structure: A clearer menu structure provides a quick overview. We have added direct access...

New Features for Nyon2 scheduled april 2022

Yeah, I don't REALLY care. Well, not 100% true, I do care that I'm somewhat improving over time, though advanced age I'm sure will put a stop to improvements at some point. Honestly, the fact that we are all actually moving and not sitting on the sofa with snacks is the most important part.

New Features for Nyon2 scheduled april 2022

Which kind of explains why my FTP and the wattage I put out is lower, as I'm like 26kgs lighter. My power to weight ratio when I'm doing 88W average for a ride is 1.31 (which admittedly is crap) but for you that same number would only be 0.95. Weight definitely matters when producing power in...

New Features for Nyon2 scheduled april 2022

Went fine afaik. Have only had mine for a couple of weeks and haven't used the maps yet so couldn't really notice any difference at a quick glance. It does make you re-download your maps when it is finished installing.

New Features for Nyon2 scheduled april 2022

And, because I couldn't help myself, I extracted all the watt numbers reported and averaged them and they do indeed average to 87.17. So yeah, consistency is king! (Not. Though I'm sure they remove values from the calcuation if your position hasn't changed, etc. etc. etc.). REALLY stopping...

New Features for Nyon2 scheduled april 2022

Actually - one more thing about power - you have to remember that a true average of all the measurements is not going to take into account coasting and going downhill (well, it actually is - so you will have a lot of zeros in your sum) when you aren't putting in any power. That's why both Strava...

New Features for Nyon2 scheduled april 2022

So the tcx file that has made the long trip from eBikeConnect -> Strava -> RunGap -> Garmin is almost exactly the same as the one that downloads from eBikeConnect. The minor difference is that the original eBike Connect file has one extra Trackpoint element, which is a duplicate of the one above...
