We need to stop blaming victims in bike theft!

Yeah in a small city it would be perfect. I was just telling someone the other day that I have no criminal records. I could go to Toronto tomorrow and rob the store and There would be nothing they could do to find me based on video footage. The police don't know who I am. The store owner won't...

victim blaming his victim blaming period. This has nothing to do with fear mongering. I'm trying to educate people that might not know that by doing this you are victim blaming.

This is exactly what I was thinking the other day. I could have been sitting on a bench and had a stolen with a right beside me. like you said going forward My bike is going to have lock on it the second I step off it. that is absolutely horrible that somebody did that. It makes me sick.. Also...

The point is you don't get to decide if I'm a victim or not based on whatever logic you have in your head. I was robbed, I was a victim, you can't justify that away!

I appreciate the kind words. It just blows me away how our society just blames victims all the time and to be honest I don't even think they realize they are doing it. I don't know what the answer is to bike theft to be honest, CCtv everywhere, homelessness solved, drugs solved.. It's so common...

We need to stop blaming victims in bike theft!

So I just had my beautiful e-bike stolen. It was my vehicle to get to work, it was my play toy to ride at the HydroCut here in Kitchener, it was my way to let off steam. I was so sad when I saw the guy grab it then spin it around and bike away while I chased them down the street But for some...

The police went around and tried to find video footage. they have a picture of it that you distributed to the rest of the department but there's been nothing. I did get a text message from one of the people at the homeless shelter and they said they haven't seen it but they'll keep their eye...

One thing I have learned from this is insurance is good and make sure you have the proper coverage for the cost of your bike. not all insurance will cover such a high value item without proper coverage. I just bumped mine 3 months ago to cover items up to 10K it was only 5K before. Also if you...

I walked into Burger King for 3 minutes to get a hamburger. no lock. I had a wedged in against a garbage can I could visually see it so I thought it was safe enough that I could run out in time. I literally watch the person grab it, flip it out, turn it around by the time I was at the door. he...

So here's a nice punch to the face, I took my bike out for a ride yesterday because it was one of the warmest days in November on record in our area. I took it out. It was lunch time and I ran in quick to get a hamburger and my bike was gone. It really changes my mind about using an e-bike in...

Wait maybe I am not understanding. I thought you said it failed that's why I was confused!! Sorry I misunderstood what you said. This makes more sense to me and I love the idea and In Kitchener, Ontario Downtown they are doing somewhat the same here!

That's crazy I have to park 3 blocks away normally and walk to any store on my main street downtown. If it was closed to traffic I don't know how that would change. Most of our downtown parking is behind the building or a parking structure. I wonder why this would be such a change?

I think every town should close down their downtown main street. there's no parking on it anyways. and if there is parking there's parking for maybe 50 cars max. everyone always has to go to the back parking lots to park. Just close all the streets and make it one big walkway...

To me it's a simple argument that everyone clouds up with different things.. ebikes are electric bicycles. Bikes must have 2 wheels, carries 1 passenger, has peddles that WORK to move the bike. Everything else is not a bike and should not fall under BIKE laws. If you have a cargo carrier, that...

100% disagree with this statement about killing someone. It would not matter. So what happens if you are on a 500w bike going down hill and hit 45 km/h and you kill someone? Are you all of a sudden guilty? A case would have to be made that the speed caused the death. yes a 1000w bike COULD go...
