Curt, the issue is that you can "cheat" on the electrical ratings, going to a draw that's WAY higher than the rating (safely!), but you can only do that until things start getting warm..... I have 3 bikes with 500w motors, all using aftermarket KT controllers that will basically pass anything...

My bet is Tom would like to draw on your previous experience to share a thought, or if you're a little light on that, share his in the hope you may find some relevance. He's just trying to give you a hand. That's how things work around here. BTW, you can ignore it if you like, but failures...

It's a matter of knowing the bike. I have a battery that's several years old too, and the AVERAGE miles between charges hasn't change that much (yet!).
