How can you not start off without full voltage?

You figure that would be more fire/explosion proof than say a 1/2"+ extruded aluminum case (offered by some of the less expensive production bikes)? If I've understood this thought correctly, I'd like to here the logic behind that call. We aren't talking the amount of electrical resistance here...

Looking for input/advice on first e-bike

Jeez, can't we just leave it at the fact there are different option that will work for you, and skip the piece about how why the option I just exercised is the best for everyone? Pardon the grouchy moment please.... -Al

Looking for input/advice on first e-bike

Head's up! Those 26" fat tire bike tend to be great big awkward bikes even with the taller riders. HIGHLY recommend you stand next to one in real life (not just a tape measure) before considering further.

    Thoughts on Beach Riding?

We ride occasionally on a "barge canal" road that parallels/runs 8-10 miles along a barge canal that leads out to the Gulf Coast. Nice easy ride, and I've never seen anything that drew my attention afterward. That would be WAY different though, from a ride blowing dry salt/sand under an on...

Help with hill climbing on trails

Jim your bike is a geared rear hub setup, right? If so, it's not as much about the amount of motor you have, it's about the gear ratios available for it's use. A geared hub has a single fixed gear ratio, about 5:1. In an identical scenario, substituting only a mid drive system for your geared...

If you aren't already, I would look into a tire sealant as a first step (Slime or similar). One that's designed to be used as a preventative, prior to a leak, not an after the fact patch to get you home. If you're like a lot of us, you may find the tires you have are just fine....

Help! Can't get my wife to try ebike.

    1. hills are a great plan.... make sure there is at least one that must be navigated on every trip. 2. a riding partner, something you can enjoy doing together - without concern regarding wind direction and hills. 3. something relatively inexpensive, so she doesn't feel like she's spending the...

Not impressed at all. This isn't making you, or the e-bike industry in general, any friends. I could give a damn what you do when playing in the boonies with no other people around, but I would ask that you find it within you to show PLENTY of respect for others when/where they are present...

Criteria: Mid-Drive, Belt Drive, Class 3—what bike do you pick?

This would be my concern as well. You have to keep in mind that the motor on a mid drive, or even a geared hub for that matter, it totally buried within a housing that's not allowing any cooling air to circulate around it, making sustained high speeds difficult from a reliability factor. The...

    Buying a House Advice Thread

I did that once too. I had the place framed in with roof, siding, and windows installed to make it weatherproof, then did the rest myself, paying cash as I went. A lot of work, but awesome knowing I actually completed it. This place, located in northern lower Mi, was sold to pay for our place in...

Here's something for that pea brain to digest. Throttle equipped bikes work just fine while pedaling.

    Buying a House Advice Thread

We have a 2nd place in Florida, our winter home. Things have gone fairly well for the value of that place since we bought in the middle of that depression a few years back, and the "buy" offers come at a rate of at least once a week. These buy offers aren't buy offers at all. They want to STEAL...

    Best wind noise solutions?

That makes perfect sense to me. I think a lot of us though, don't see 15mph often. Bottom line, my thought is if you feel the need, go for it. Don't just assume though, that you can't be cool without them....

    Wind speeds and your ride.

Please give this line of complete crap a rest. I can't be the only one bored to tears with you bringing this up every time you start loosing an argument. Same story regarding throttles. Big power and throttles are both concepts you completely fail to comprehend - just because of the backward...

    Best wind noise solutions?

I don't use them either Jeremy, and like you, my thinking is I'm generally not going fast enough to even consider the noise an issue. FWIW, -Al

Julet 3 pin to 2 pin for E-brake?

Sometimes taking the throttle, or any other device, apart can give you a hint regarding how it works and what wire does what... Then, there's the thought that throttles and lights with more conventional connectors are pretty inexpensive....

Please stop charging ebike batteries overnight!

Another one comes to mind. Because the charger output jack fits the battery charge port does NOT assure anyone that the charger attributes match the battery's needs. If you aren't already familiar with both the battery and the charger, you absolutely need to verify compatibility before using!

    What causes loose spokes

You're due for a visit to somebody that's familiar with wheel building. Done properly, that should end your spoke issues IMHO. Don't let some rookie replace or adjust one loose or broken spoke. One of those is indicative of a larger issue..... Beyond that, how that wheel builder comes up with a...
