2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Hi Stefan, I just noticed you were posting about your visit to London! I hadn't seen this message when I started composing my reply earlier! 😀 It looks like you'll be sightseeing in the centre of London then you'll be fine using the Superhighways, and other cycling routes! There are plenty of...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Hi Stefan, these Superhighways are only found in London and I don't have any first hand experience of using them myself. They've spent a lot of time and money to create these fully segregated cycling "superhighways" but as you get further out you get from centre of London it does revert to just...

Bafang M620 Ultra motor broken? Low torque problem. Best retailer for US?

Its possible to fix it but the motor will may need calibrating again. Its better to just make sure the grease is good from the start.

Bafang M620 Ultra motor broken? Low torque problem. Best retailer for US?

I should also say as I didn't really make it clear earlier but ANYTIME you change the rotor gear you risk the chance of having to recalibrate... Because its not easy to tell which way the magnet is pointing on the shaft and it'll mess up the hall sensor position! You might get lucky, but...

Bafang M620 Ultra motor broken? Low torque problem. Best retailer for US?

I had the exact same experience as @Deacon Blues , premature wear on the rotor gear due to a lack of factory grease. But I did change all the gears, and done a "quiet gears" upgrade at the same time. (I don't really advise others do the "quiet gears" upgrade, its a PITA, requires a new...

2024 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Back to work tomorrow so took the opportunity for a ride out... Unfortunately it wasn't the best day for photography! The Old Town Hall - Leighton Buzzard. Originally built in the 16th century, it fell into dilapidation and was rebuilt in 1851. In 1918 it was converted into a Fire Station...

How much difference do street tires make compared to knobbies

They're pretty good across light "gravel" conditions... Broken tarmac paths etc... hard terrain... dry soil. Its wet grass/mud/sandy ground where you need to be most careful! I was out on my bike earlier today (using Super-moto X tyres) encountering paths like this! A little sketchy but...

How much difference do street tires make compared to knobbies

Haha yes its good to give other brands a try. You never know what you might be missing! Shame the Kendas don't come in wider sizes... Up to 2.2" wide... I've been running 2.8" for years now and have become use to the feel of it. Also checked out the Specialized Pathfinder Pro tyre as...

How much difference do street tires make compared to knobbies

Those are 27.5 x 2.8 tyres. Those look interesting... One to add to the shortlist!

How much difference do street tires make compared to knobbies

I was reading your ride report yesterday! I must admit I was impressed with your friend covering 100km on a traditional bike - I don't know if I have the stamina to do that! But if anyone is reading and thinking - I might need the Michelin E-Wilds. Let me also say I'm not entirely satisfied...

How much difference do street tires make compared to knobbies

Haha yes this was nearly me just a few days ago Stefan! I was out just sightseeing/enjoying the weather. I had the Super-Motos tyres on my bike. I found myself near Woburn Bike Park. I had no intentions of going on the tracks there, but wouldn't you believe it my Garmin recalculated my route...

How much difference do street tires make compared to knobbies

I bought the E-Wilds for Off-Road use - where they excel. They were never intended for the road or general purpose use. But I rarely transport my bike via vehicle to a location. I tend to ride directly from home to tracks and trails in the local area. Usually within a 30 mile radius...

Let me remind you of the title of this thread. How much difference do street tires make compared to knobbies

How much difference do street tires make compared to knobbies

Big difference between my Michelin E-wild knobbly off-road tyres compared to my Schwalbe Super Moto-X tyres. It just rolls for miles on the Moto-X tyres. It was impossible to coast along on the E-Wilds when road riding. They have so much rolling-resistance that it brings the bike to a stop...

That old adage again... If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

eBay (UK) to ban private e-bike sales over fire fears

Yep have to agree. I'm kind of thinking I'll hold on to my current bike until the wheels fall off... It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. I wonder what companies will be authorised to sell e-bikes on eBay. How they will be regulated... what checks are done etc... In the UK, UL 2849...

DJI vs Bosch vs Pinion: Unbelievable Difference!!

That DJI motor is something else, a real powerhouse. From my own experience, the difference being shown on the hill climb is the same as between my Frey EX and any "legal" MTB bike that I've competed with. The extra oomph really does put a smile on your face when tackling the steepest of...

    Juiced Closing Up Shop?

Yeah I checked on that too... I read on Reddit that they lost a court case forcing them to pay a considerable amount of money. Not sure of the entire back story to that... Someone may purchase the company and turn it around - as without this court case happening the company appeared to be solvent.

eBay (UK) to ban private e-bike sales over fire fears

Haven't seen this topic posted on here but eBay are banning private sellers in the UK from selling ebikes/batteries on their website. I believe NYC in the US has also recently changed the rules regarding batteries. I see this as a somewhat positive move, as obviously nobody wants shoddy...

    Error 21

Fair enough, from all you've said it is suggesting a bigger issue at fault, and the controller itself may need replacing.. I normally buy spare parts from GreenBikeKit. They're a good supplier used by many people on here, but they are based in China so you have wait a little longer for...
