Specialized, Trek or Orbea, which one?

As an option, take a look at the Canyon Grail-On. Cheaper than the other makers since they mail you the bike. It comes with the Class 3 Bosch motor and you can easily get over 50 miles, on ECO mode which is enough for an average of 20 mph with some hills. Really powerful motor. The knobby...

    Advice on Canyon Grail: ON

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

If I had known this, I would have purchased the Volabike extender rather than the eMotion extender but the eMotion extended is easier to attach to the bike, IMHO.

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

I don't think there's any way for an extended battery to directly charge the motor, bypassing the main internal battery. At best, an external can efficiently charge the internal battery, hopefully faster than the internal battery discharging. I believe the Volabike extended charger probably...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Agree. The eMotion extended battery is not a good design, IMHO. On a 50+ mile ride recently with a mix of level 2 and 3 power modes, my main battery died on me after 2.5 hours even though the extended was still trying to charge it. I guess I will try turning on the extended battery at the...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Just to give people options, here in the US, BikeBling has the 208W/h eMotion (Mahle) Extended battery for $645usd. https://www.bikebling.com/eBikemotion-X35-Range-Extender-Battery-Holder-p/ebikemotion20-y0020000.htm You have to pre-order it; probably takes a few weeks to get from overseas is...

    A Road-Cyclist Thoughts On E-Bikes

I have to admit when I was toiling away on a steep hill with my aero bike (I'm in pretty decent shape) and this older lady passed me easily on her e-Bike, I got annoyed to say the least. It's a paradigm shift that I believe we all need to make, especially myself. So what if I got passed? I...

    A Road-Cyclist Thoughts On E-Bikes

My Dyodo is around 7 lbs heavier than I would like. SO, I've decided I will just have to lose 7 lbs off my gut instead of trying to get carbon handlebars and wheels...lol

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Hey, so how long did it take for the dealer to get the bike? Also, weight is important when the hub motor is off. My Dyodo feels like a pig with the motor off. I would have paid more for lighter handlebars, stems, and especially the wheelset: 27.5 lbs is pretty heavy but I guess I shouldn't...

Carrying photography gear on a ride

I like to be as light as possible when cycling so I carry a trusty compact Leica body w/lens - compact and fits in my slim backpack.

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

I have a Dyodo w/the ebikemotion x35 hub motor and I initially thought the motor wasn't strong enough but after riding it for the past few weeks, I've come to realize that any more 'power' and it defeats the purpose of why I got an eBike in the first place which was to reduce my exhaustion...

San Diego invitation to ride the Great Western Loop

Yikes. That almost happened to me a few times. Luckily, I was able to swerve to avoid but if there was a car passing next to me, I would have been hit. Have to be careful these days. thx for the reminder...

San Diego invitation to ride the Great Western Loop

There's a really good loop called Los Angeles Santa Monica - PV Loop: it starts in Marina Del Rey and goes along the beach for around 15 miles (no cars, just walkers/joggers and other cyclists) and then goes up hills through Palos Verdes. These are vehicle roads but there isn't that much...

San Diego invitation to ride the Great Western Loop

I have a Pina Dyodo with an extra water bottle battery but I don't plan on using it - but maybe I should! It should give me around 3-4 hours, I think. My buddy doesn't have an eBike; he has a light road bike. I was going to use my other road bike (Seven Cycles Axiom S).
