    Diamondback EBIKES Why

It doesn't look like Diamondback is really in the Currie stable of brands, more like they are just buying the ebike tech from Currie. That rebadged Dash is a 2014 model though, so they should be selling it at a bigger discount compared to the 2015 Dash.

    Flat tire

When I had the first flat from a thorn and patched the tube, I installed Rhinodillo liners at the same time. A few days ago I had a twig with a thorn get stuck in a tire again but no flat.

Impossible Electric Bike (That's the name)

There are no investors on Kickstarter. They're donors, and the creators have nothing but a moral obligation to give any refunds if a project falls through.

    Advice for buying an E-Bike.

I think all ebikes should be legally required to have throttle and pedal assist that you can mix and match however you like. And cruise control, also in pedal assist mode by giving you an electric shock if you don't pedal hard enough.

    Advice for buying an E-Bike.

I can say that a $3000 Izip Dash can do a 20 mile roundtrip with one battery charge. I use mostly throttle (cruise control is nice!) going to work and minimum assist returning. The route is first 200 ft drop over 2 miles, then on average level with modest hills like bridge spans. I weigh 200 lb...

    Considering First E-Bike Need Advice

Am I missing something or does it really look like that battery is going to hit the seat at every bump?

Please help me choose a bike

Well thought out, quality design for $2000 or less is gonna be tough, unless you happen to find a demo, previous year model or used.

How about just wrapping it with aluminum foil?

    Tektro Dorado

Not that it's anything to brag of, but me and my commute gear total maybe about 215 lb. Perhaps the 2015 model has better brakes.

    Tektro Dorado

...or even without hydro: the other day I needed some emergency braking and locked the wheels of my Dash quite easily (on clean asphalt). When the limiting factor is the grip of the tires, I don't understand how hydro can make one stop quicker than cable. Do any e-bikes come with ABS brakes? :-)

    Old batteries, what to do?

A while ago I was thinking about what to do when my Dash battery probably gives up in a few years and I tried googling about rebuilding but nothing came up with modest effort. Some guesses and calculations showed that the same type of cells for the same watt hours as the Dash battery might cost...

Makes me think: why would you need Kickstarter for this?

could use some advice on my first e-bike

But I meant what's the big diff between cable and hydraulic disk brakes? Everybody's always ragging on the Dash brakes not being hydraulic...

could use some advice on my first e-bike

About that... the Dash is my first bike with any kind of disk brakes and I've never tried hydraulic ones, but I fail to understand what the big deal is. I can easily lock the wheels with the stock brakes and my hands don't have superhuman strength: hydraulic brakes could be lighter to operate...

    350 watts or 500 watss

There is the thing some seem to have discovered with Specialized: if you make a small wattage motor work hard, it can overheat.

    E3 Dash Fenders

I decided to try SKS B53 http://www.amazon.com/SKS-Commuter-Bicycle-Fender-Black/dp/B0019HKMRE and here's the result: At 53 mm wide they're a snug fit over the tires and inside the seat stays: The only mod required is something for the backward facing holes in the fork. They're still an...

Elephant in the Room, Top Speed of eBikes

Unfortunately the people who don't ride ebikes or even any bikes don't care about the danger to ebike riders but they would be up in arms if fast ebike riders started running people over, demanding banning all ebikes or at least licensing, registration and rules and regulations like on any motor...
