Known Issues & Problems with Ebikemotion Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I'm looking for feedback from eBikeMotion X35 owners... I have a 2019 Orbea Gain M20i and have put about 2,000 miles (3,219km) on it this year mostly in dry conditions. The bike has worked well and the battery does not seem to have lost much. But I flatted recently, and when changing the tire...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

FYI - Orbea has fixed the Strava compatible GPX file export from the Activities part of the user account page of its website to include Heart Rate data recorded with the App! Progress! (Kinda surprised they didnt email me on this so not sure when it went into effect but glad its there now!)

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Wanted to post that I am liking the HR auto assist feature more... on an Android phone, the EBM App recognizes the HR monitor on startup and the assist is predictable while not entirely consistent. I would have said the main issue is that its slow to turn off well after my HR has fallen below...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Yes it seems that cadence is the primary factor, but torque may be an input as well (in a negative way) in that I've observed the power % on the screen decreases when cadence drops slightly and the torque load increases. I've posted a few times about my 75lb steel cruiser bike which has a 500W...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Yes - I've noticed the same... It will assist when out of the saddle, but not much since it wants to see steady cadence. I almost have the opposite problem in that if I'm spinning over 85 rpm up a steep hill... I wont see 100% power... more like 75-90%,

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Mike - Yeah still troubleshooting this one... I'm suddenly very interested in this feature because on group rides I've found the manual iWoc power setting impractical... an example would be the group goes charging up a hill then crests the hill and backs it off coming to a slow easy pace (this...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Per my prior comment, I'm back to comment on group rides... so far so good. Did a fast group ride this week... the *fast* portion was about 26 miles of rolling terrain on pretty good roads... I came in at 22.3mph so not bad... because as I've mentioned the Large Orbea with titanium SpeedPlay...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Steve - I'd be interested in hearing what your setup weighs and what size frame you have. I have a large M20i and with pedals its almost 28lbs (27.80)! (The temporary pedals are old and a bit heavy, but certainly not 1lbs). So overall the setup weighs more than expected. I cant recall of...

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

Here's a question for Gain owners... whats the lightest tool set option for wheel removal? I'm thinking of cutting down an 8mm hex key because I cant find a small multi-tool with an 8mm size and most 8mm single keys sold are large and heavy! Also with the tubeless tires, can you get the tire...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Well finally got the elusive PR on the 4% hill I've been talking about. While I didn't record with the ebikemotion app, I had it running and know I was close to 100% at Level 3. My app shows average power of only 400W with a peak over 500w and an average speed of 18.6mph. I only took off 1...

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

Yes its a NA version... it will power to 20mph (sometimes just over) but really the power starts fading out around 19.7mph.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

Yeah I'm STILL trying to figure out how best to attack shorter hills. I actually wasn't getting consistent full power out of the motor at L3 with high rpms (and speed 13-15) so was trying out of the saddle with a big gear... I definitely feel the assistance but still think I'm going slower than...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

To further look into the capabilities of the ebikemotion X35 system I ran a ramp test with the Orbea Gain M20i. The results are encouraging. The ramp test increases the wattage (i.e. required resistance) by 20 watts every minute starting around 100w. This was done on Zwift with a calibrated...

OK good to know thanks for the feedback!

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Yes - I checked and the app is set to 100% power at each level... I believe that's the default because I had not changed it. I just went back and found old data recorded with my cruiser and yep... the cruiser is substantially faster! :( I remain confused because the ebikemotion x35 is rated...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

First Ride Thoughts – Took the bike outside for the 1st time yesterday and came away a little pleased, a little disappointed, and a little perplexed! The bike – an Orbea Gain M20i rides well… geometry feels good, handling is precise and while I didn’t push things too hard, I didn’t notice any...

Fair point... I guess its calculating assist output by the current going to the motor...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Yes power assistance jumps around a lot... that's one reason why I was surprised the chart and GPX download didn't show anything... I put the bike on my Computrainer because I wanted to see how it felt etc.... I believe the main reason for the power jumpiness is that I'm right at the 20mph most...
