4.8" Jumbo Jims on a Rover

Nice! I would've thought the chain would rub the tire on the lowest gear. There isn't much clearance for the chain, even with the stock 4" tires.

How is this 24" & 26" measured? I think you said that the wheelbase length is the same, and the seat tube lengths are either 16" or 18". Thanks.

@Teo fat bike Thanks for the update. Maybe I am just being picky here, but the rear rack appears slanted (not level). Just pointing it out in case there is still time to make adjustments to the final production models.

Did anyone notice, the white and red models Benoit just posted are the much smaller 16" (instead of 18") frame size, nice! Also, the front fenders are missing, but shows the rear fenders & rack. Maybe these are just demo units.

Instead of the default PAS 1-5, try 0-9. This will give you finer increments of PAS to suit you. Alternatively, you can reduce the max Current from the default 15A to 10A or less. This will limit the max power to the motor. 15A = 750W, 10A = 500W, 5A = 250W, etc. Here is as much as I can...

@Teo fat bike I look forward to your unveiling of your new models. Any hints?

My 2017 Brose Motor, SLOW as molasses, SAD, such a good looking bike..

Perhaps you can share some "Before-and-after" data. Find some way to capture your "Before" experience *objectively*, maybe with a stopwatch, or record the peak wattage, etc. And then do the same after your firmware update. It will be interesting to compare the firmware differences with real...

Yes, the 04E Error is the low battery error. It pops up when your battery drops below 41V set by the controller. Whenever you stress the battery (eg. going up a steep hill on full throttle), the battery voltage will drop temporary. When the stress is relieved, the voltage returns. When your...

@Teo fat bike Great pics! I look forward to pictures of your new models! I am also hoping for a smaller frame, and I believe you mentioned different colours as well coming soon. I am still in the market for another bike and you are very high on my list. P.S. Have a great trip in China...

Have you considered another "low cost" Canadian Voltbike.ca. I have the Voltbike Yukon 750 (see my thread in the Voltbike section) with over 1,400 km. You don't have to worry about U.S. custom or duties, because Voltbike has 2 warehouses... one in Canada for Canadian customers, and one in the...

Maybe it is not as bad as you think. As a Canadian, I'd have to pay 13% sales taxes even if I bought it locally. Did Benoit also charge you Canadian taxes already? If not, the US$241.16 extra is probably just U.S. tax and some Purolator fees. Just a thought.

@america94 No rush, but can you please weight your entire front wheel with the lighter Maxxis and inner tube? I estimate you are saving 2 pounds per wheel compared to stock. My front wheel is 10 pounds stock!

@ace20ri Love what you are doing, glad we have someone with this kind of knowledge and resources in-house. Not something I would dare to attempt anytime soon, but still very interesting to follow your mods. When your battery needs replacing, do you think you will replace the 18650 batteries...

    Maxxis Hookworms

Thanks for that @america94 I just wanted to share. I found these at MEC. The 1st is "HD (Heavy Duty)" with 1.5 mm thickness. The 2nd one is normal 0.9 mm thickness. They are 26 x 2.5-2.7 Mountain tubes. Both reasonably priced at CAD$8-9...

    Maxxis Hookworms

Has anyone try using the original 26 x 4 fat tire tube with the thinner 26 x 2.5 Maxxis Hookworm? @america94 Any advice on the tubes to go with the thinner Maxxis tires?

@america94 Did the smaller Hookworm tires affect your kickstand? Is your bike now leaning too high, and at risk of falling?

Great, thanks for this. I wish both Teofatbike.com and Voltbike.ca great success. They are the best options for Canadians in the sub-CAD$2,000 (US$1,500) range with decent specs.

New to bikes - looking for lightweight and small frame

Just a quick suggestion: http://www.voltbike.ca/voltbike-urban.html for US$1,059 + $70 shipping. This bike may fold small enough that you won't need a car rack at all! Voltbike is a well known and reputable Canadian company. Threads: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/forum/voltbike/

    New Voltbike Yukon 750 spotted

@ace20ri I know little about electronics, but it sounds like the cut outs are due to low voltage detection (41V?). When you fully charged the battery, maybe the voltage has enough extra (54V) to avoid cutouts. I wonder if your "mod" has somehow lowered the voltage, perhaps from higher resistance?

    New Voltbike Elegant Step-through 26"x2.1"

I am not a big fan of the rear rack welded permanently to the seat stay. The welds also look "gunky" and excessive. I'd much prefer a clean bolt-on rack (with standard mounting screws) that can be removed or replaced. The rack from the Yukon 750 is nice. I especially like the spring-clamp...
