    Tandem Conversion

I received a couple of questions regarding the standoff on the Cannondale Tandem frame (mine is a 2005 Mountain Tandem, yours may differ). There's only 1 frame modification you need to make. In the before photo, you'll see under the stoker's seat a short standoff where the front / rear shift...

    Tandem Conversion

I did a tandem conversion on a Cannondale Mountain Tandem ( Thread link here ). If you go the hub route, I would definitely recommend rear hub - just make sure the wheel / hub drive can handle the total mass that it will need to drive. I chose to do mid-drive as I think the ride feel and power...

    E-MT1000 750W Mid-Drive Project

Perfect question. When I did the original test fit, I looked at mounting it "inside" the frame first. In my case (2005 tandem) the BBS02 motor housing didn't fit and the gap between the BB spindle and motor was too narrow to get the spindle straight all the way through. You can try when you do...

    Making an electric tandem

I posted a response on another thread earlier in the year: https://electricbikereview.com/forums/threads/e-mt1000-750w-mid-drive-project.611/page-2#post-184152 . I did a conversion on a 2005 Cannondale Tandem with a BBS02 mid-drive. You can see some of the comments and pictures from that thread...

    E-MT1000 750W Mid-Drive Project

The tandem performance exceeded my expectations. Handling and balance with both my wife and I feel very natural to ride and similar to pre-conversion. I got my mid-drive setup from LunaCycle, but there's a lot of good vendors out there. I have a gear sensor to the setup - so the motor cuts off...

    E-MT1000 750W Mid-Drive Project

I did a similar build 4 months ago with a 2005 Cannondale Mountain Tandem debating the same issues. I've worked with hub motors on my single rider ebikes but didn't care for the shift in the center of gravity and was concerned a front hub motor would change the handling of the tandem too much...
