    Babyboomer

Most of Texas is flat enough that a DD motor will be a good match. Do not try to cross any 6 lane highways on a green light. Weak acceleration. Enjoy the ride. I am a 1950 model. Texas refuge. 7 rear end collisions drove me out of Houston.

    Deaf Riders

My Varia 510/511 gives so many false alerts I parked the display, and only use the sensor as a really good taillight. Trucks on the freeway through a chain link fence, about 8 lanes to the side, WARNING WARNING WARNING Cars approaching a 4 way stop from the side, that I passed two blocks ago...

    Just for fun...

If Trump wins, I am emigrating. Chile Bolivia or Peru. I am not a white European. I have had way too much trouble with thick straight brown head hair, eyebrows, and no beard or moustache. When it comes to the white replacement mania, natives were here first!

    Tools Needed

I ride off the cell phone net. I do not expect my Mommy to come pick me up if I have a problem, she is deceased. I can fix anything but chain problems, a damaged rim, or fractured metal. Chain, I have a hub motor and it can drag me home. The only chain problem I've had in 67 years is when it...

Need Help finding the right E-Bike

Wong! Plus, nobody quotes at what RPM the torque quoted is. Grin published some torque vs RPM curves some years ago, but I think all that has been flushed from the internet.

Need Help finding the right E-Bike

Pedego Ridge Rider as sold now specifies a 749 w motor. That is all that is allowed now in most states on road. Start torque can determine how much weight the bike can start on what grade, but power determines how fast you can go up the grade. The 750 quoted watts is input power, not torque*RPM...

    Brake clunk shudder?

My 2017 yubabike bodaboda has tektro Aries disk brakes. The pads do not shift. They are held in place by a cotter pin. They wear the outer part more than the inner part, which considering pads last ~4000 miles front only, is not much of a problem. I do not use the rear brake often. I buy...

    Tires becoming colorful?

My yubabike came with white tires. One lasted 700 miles then went flat. Freedomcycle or somesuch. I changed to blackwall knobbies from kenda or giant which usually go 2000 miles without a flat. When the knobs get down to 3/32" tall I change them out.

    Hello from Folsom, CA!

See this thread https://forums.electricbikereview.com/threads/replace-torque-sensor-bearings.55160/unread about the hassle aventon gave an owner about his problem. Also Aventon has 172 posts on known problems thread. They have a large market share as a denominator, but that total is up there...

Looking for handguards for Winter use

I do not bolt guards to the bike, I wear them. Carry them in a bag with helmet and reflective vest. I use farmer mittens from Rural King down to 15 F. Wells Lamont Brand. Down to 0 F I wear oven mitts from the dollar store over them. Wearing those I can pull brake handles and push the front...

    Hello from Folsom, CA!

Welcome to the site. Lots of reviews & opinions here. Check brand forums known problems thread for some indication of how reliable different brands are. https://forums.electricbikereview.com/categories/discussion-by-brand-user-reviews.168/ IMHO some stinkers in your brand list. Others have some...

Hello to everyone from up here in Washington State

Do not ride a bike that runs away in an uncontrolled fashion. I see on the brands forum, Hurley is not a brand covered by electricbikereview.com/forums. https://forums.electricbikereview.com/categories/discussion-by-brand-user-reviews.168/ In future when you buy a bike, I suggest you ensure it...

Fancy Soft or hard shell armor (possibly with airbag?) for ebike rider (20-30mph)

I've hit the gravel and pavement at 25 mph in dickies mechanic's wear. No road burn. No broken bones except my chin which was not protected by a helmet guard before 2018. No pain in knees & elbows. Long pants long sleeves, plus $1 polyester gloves with the plastic dots. Dickies have a double...

    Searching for the perfect ebike

I will concede bosch makes you move your feet to make the bike go. The calories I burn by moving my bike unpowered will be 150% to 4 times what you burn with electric assist. If you remove the battery from a bosch, you will burn more calories than I do since you spin the motor with your feet...

    Searching for the perfect ebike

I do not know the precise measurement on those high pressure skinny tires since I never wanted to ride with my head bent back 90 degrees from my spine. I do suspect tiny high pressure tires ride harder than medium sized medium pressure tires. I do not expect my frame to take out the shock of...

Full face helmet for ebike 20-30 mph speed

I broke my chin at 25 mph 2017. I did not find vented bike helmets until AFTER the accident. I had looked before, search engines only found me unvented motorcycle helmets. The search term is "downhill racing mountain bike helmet". I've never raced in my life, except on foot where I was badly...

Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

I ride an electric bike on sidewalks, especially during rush hour when about 20000 cars an hour use the one lane roads near my grocery store and home depot. When I encounter the extremely rare pedestrian, I wait in a driveway or yard for them to pass. Riding any bike past a pedestrian on a...

    Searching for the perfect ebike

I believe the harshness is 32 mm tires at 120 psi, not the rigid aluminum frame. Expecting the frame to flex is a good way to eventually break it. Air/hydraulic suspensions are designed for flexing, and are not generally available on drop handlebar bikes. Suspensions are not light weight. 55...

    Ebike I want to pedal

A bike with suspension <$1200 will be made of "steel" containing lead and copper, and "aluminum" containing zinc and silicon. Parts that stretch require constant adjustment. Mid drives that the rider drags the motor with his feet unpowered include bosch. Direct drive hub motors drag unpowered...

    Great plan, poor execution

I get 5000 miles to 70% wear on a park gauge, 75% of the distance unpowered. I use sus 46 hydraulic fluid, the $6 a gallon version of the 3-in-1 oil my father showed me to use. I apply every 3-4 weeks with a pump oiler. I only clean the chain if it gets string or grass stems in it. The dirt...
