    Motor Power Output Question

Regardless as to whether one thinks the restrictions are silly or not, its still the riders responsibility to be informed of the e-bike laws in their local area and comply with them. If one chooses not to comply, then that individual risks getting a fine. My choice is to comply with the rules. :)

    Motor Power Output Question

Yeah and the regulations are for norminal (continuous) power not peak output. But there are some e-bikes rated 1000 watts norminal, but the rider should be using these off road only since 1000 watts is not street legal in most areas. Ultimately, its the riders responsibility to be informed on...

    Motor Power Output Question

No, I am not buying a bike with a 1000 watt motor. In Canada, where I am, the limit is actually 500 watts unlike the US, which allows 750-1000 watts depending on the state (the max in most states is 750 watts.) The motor on the e-bike I am getting is only rated 500 watts to comply with...

    Motor Power Output Question

Wait, motor power won't be limited for legal reasons? Technically, 1000 watts is not street legal for most states so it would have to be limited for legal reasons though I'm not sure that electronically limiting the motor power would satisfy the law, if the motor itself is rated over 750 watts.

    Motor Power Output Question

Hi I was wondering if speed affects motor watt output? From my understanding, a motor can actually peak higher than what its rated because motor wattage is determined by how much power is fed to it from the controller. With this in mind, let's say an individual has a motor rated 750 watts but...

    Ride the Glide

This is why the 3 class system is so good. It allows for some bikes to have motor assist up to 45 km/h but they are only permitted on the road and in bike lanes on the road. They are prohibited from pedestrian/bike shared paths that are off the road. This makes total sense, because a bike going...

    Ride the Glide

I fully agree with you and think you misunderstood me because I phrased it poorly. When I said: "For example, bikes that are configured to motor assist up to 45 km/h should not be on bike paths on city park trails..." I was not saying that everyone with a class 3 bike would ride max speed of...

    Ride the Glide

I agree with you. The 500 watt limit in Canada is outdated. I totally understand the reason behind limiting the motor assist speed to 32 km/h but I have no idea why we would need to limit the motor output power. Of course a more powerful motor could achieve higher speeds without a limiter but...

    Speed limit on Display Settings

Hi I was curious as to whether adjusting the speed limit in the display settings on Rize bikes effects both pedal assist and the throttle? Also, does changing the pedal assist levels (1,2,3 etc...) effect the throttle as well? Thanks so much.

Rize X and RX Motor Output

Thanks for your response. Would setting the speed limit to 32 km/h limit the motor output? I wonder if the speed limit would have any effect on how many amps is sent to the motor, which would effects how many watts the motor is putting out.

Rize X and RX Motor Output

Hi everyone, I'm curious about a couple Rize bikes. Looking at the Rize X and RX on the Canadian site, it appears that both have motors rated above 500 watts, which is not street legal in Canada. The X is rated for 750 watts, and the RX is rated for 1000 watts. In Canada, in order for it to...

If the Juggernaut Ultra 1000 is power limited to 500W, does it still have 160Nm torque?

Is it possible to limit the amperage on an e bike with a Bafang motor and display to make it comply with the 500 watt limit in Canada? I've looked at some videos but from what I can see there is only an option on the display to set the speed limit, and no option to limit the amperage or restrict...

    Rize Blade 2020: Any reviews?

Thanks so much for the response and videos. These Rize bikes look awesome. Personally, I like how the Blade looks with that long scooter style seat. I'm super excited to get one of these bikes. Are these bikes waterproof in the event I get caught in a rainstorm?
