Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

Installed the TSDZ2 36V 500W withVLCD6. No throttle or speed sensor. Went for my first ride today. Oh my !!! Love it . Good to feel refreshed instead of exhausted after a ride. I can easily see doing longer rides. I only need to determine what kind of range I will get with my 36V 9.6Ah...

Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

Can I somehow use the two existing rear derailleur cable guides that are welded to the frame when installing a new one piece cable housing. Can I cut the housing and run the cable through the existing guides? Any ideas on how best to deal with that. I can't get a clear enough look at PedalUmas...

Not to mention falling off a bike at those speeds. All I really want from the motor is to feel like I always have the wind at my back. Even 20 mph is fast enough for me. I ride on paths and side streets with as little traffic as possible. I see road bikes on suburban roads where people are...

Removed the motor, added grease and an aluminum shim. I was surprised how much play there was in the bottom bracket. The shim I used probably could have been thicker but I feel like the fit is improved and am hoping for the best. My frame is aluminum.

Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

I understand. I'll see what I can do so there is no wiggle. How about cable tie downs I'm trying to get a clean installation and use as few tie wraps as possible. Although my bike is black so tie wraps probably wont be all that noticeable. Has anyone tried something like these...

OK thanks I'll go with the shims, grease and locktite. Where can I get the shims and what size?

Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

Thanks PedalUma. I have already installed the motor without doing any of those things. At this point I will hope for the best and consider reinstalling the motor using your suggestions if I have any issues with noise. All I have left is to do is install a new shift cable and connect all the...

Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

One more question. Wish I had asked earlier. I have heard of these motor making creaking or other noises if they are somewhat loose. Should I be using locktite or doing anything else to avoid that?

Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

Thanks for the advise and quick response. I was hoping to keep the bike the same as much as possible. I will go with the covered cable and route it above the bottom bracket. Yes I need to get a quality cable cutter. Cutting cables can be a pain. I hope to be riding in a few days. Will post my...

Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

Have started the removal/installation. My observation is that the you tube videos make this project look much easier than it typically is.:) Some difficulty getting pedals, cranks and bottom bracket off. But eventually managed. If one does these things on a somewhat regular basis and has good...

Those will work well. Thanks! Edit: These are listed as single chainring bolts and there are five of them. I think these should work best. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083NHXQHD/ref=sw_img_1?smid=&th=1

Received my TSDZ2 unit. I would like to remove the chainguard but if I do that I cannot tighten the chainring using the supplied bolts. Do I need to obtain different chainring bolts?

A dork disk is required on a bike of that vintage. Funny my other bike is a Miyata Nine 14 that I purchased new sometime in the 80's. Fortunately it is in black but it still has its dork disk. It's still in great shape as I mostly rode my other bikes. I'll use the Nine 14 if I want to ride...

Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

Thanks PedalUma, I'll look into those USB lights. Trying to keep the bike looking clean. That's some high end frame, are you going to install a TSDZ2 in it?

Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

Thanks EMGX. I am aware of the cable guides issue and am prepared to deal with that. I will go with the 36V 500W motor and the small VLCD6 display that PedalUma suggested. I am not able to find a 36V 350W kit with the VLCD6 display, that is why I'm going with 500W. I want to keep my built as...

Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

Does a battery like this connect without any issues to the TSDZ2? I'm thinking the 36V 10.5ah Samsung would be the one to go with. Wonder if I can get away using something smaller that will hold up on a 40 mile ride, on flat terrain with me doing most of the work...

Is this bicycle, a Scott Sub 20 hybrid, a good candidate for conversion to E-bike?

PedalUma 1) You appear to favor using the 36V 350W unit. Am I to understand that this model will probably be best for my intended use and be the most efficient? I'm looking for a setup that will get me through 40 mile rides while pedaling at a reasonable pace. I'm not looking for speed just...

Thanks, looks like that display does not come as part of a kit and has to be ordered separately.
