    Consdering Trek Crossrip plus

I haven't test-ridden any of the less expensive bikes... but there are very few bikes that give you drop-bars, Class 3, and a rack. $4200 is a competitive price given those features. Plus, Bicycling Magazine named it Gear of the Year... how can you argue with that ;-). Drop-bars make sense to...

    Consdering Trek Crossrip plus

@ESBreidenbach , I have a CrossRip+ and my commute is pretty similar to yours, but a little hillier. 10 miles each way. 750' of climbing on the way to work, 425' on the way back. I generally ride in Sport mode for most of the ride, and kick it up to Turbo for the biggest hill of the route. I...

What are your favorite 'fast E-bike approved' helmets that you own?

Anyone have any experience with the Lazer Anverz NTA? Looks to be on the NTA-8776 certified list. http://www.lazersport.com/adult-helmets/anverz-nta-mips?color=000000

Trek E-Bike Demo Day June 30, Denver

They had several models available to demo... not sure exactly which ones because I was focused on the Crossrip+ and the Super Commuter+ 8S. Took them both for a spin. My first time riding an e-bike. That first pedal stroke in the parking lot was magical :-). Barely touched the pedal and off...

Trek E-Bike Demo Day June 30, Denver

Good question... website says that Trek will have their full fleet. So hopefully... everything? I assume Trek is bringing in their fleet, as opposed to it being based on what the bike shop has in stock.

    Commute Speed

@Bruce Arnold , how do the voltage and amp-hours come into play? I thought it was just the watt-hours that dictated how long the battery will last? Not all 500 watt-hour batteries are created equal?

    Commute Speed

@BMac , That sounds similiar to my situation. I figure I'd probably wear cycling clothes and ride hard in the morning, then take a shower at work. On the way home, I'm thinking I could avoid the change of clothes and ride a little less hard. I'm less concerned about being sweaty when I get...

    Commute Speed

Wow, thanks for all the excellent information and advice. I'm almost wishing my commute were longer and more hilly now :-). Rich C., my max speed varies of course but just glancing at a few rides, I'm reaching 30mph fairly regularly on the downhills. I'm assuming the e-bike won't help me much...

    Commute Speed

Getting to work (net uphill) takes me 40-45 minutes depending on traffic, wind, how strong I'm feeling that day, etc. Getting home takes around 33-38 minutes. I have a few traffic lights, I probably spend 2-4 minutes stopped at lights.

    Commute Speed

I'm an avid road rider who's getting into bike commuting. I'm considering getting an e-bike so that I can commute faster and therefore more frequently. What I'm wondering is, realistically, how much time will I save if I'm riding an e-bike? My commute is about 10 miles each way, with about...
