Is The Law going to ruin this too??

You're okay in Oregon on a class 3 ebike according to state law. Local municipalities may have rules against using them on shared use paths and sidewalks, but you should be fine on the roads and bike lanes. Use of bike paths in national forrests appears to be up in the air at the moment. And...

    Ocean Current - initial impressions

I couldn't get my voltmeter probes into the connector, so I test fit my ccs headlight on the Ocean Current and it works.

    Purchased a used bike..

Return it. The cheap replacement battery makes me think it may be stolen.

    Ocean Current - initial impressions

My Ocean Current has an extra electrical cable coming out from under the steering stem with a cap on it. Does anyone know if this cable can be used to power a headlight?

    Ocean Current Owners

Not much info on this forum about the Ocean Current. I just bought my wife one and I'm curious about other people's experiences. How many miles have you accumulated? Any problems? Tips to get the best performance?

    Why do people hate cyclists?

I commute through suburbs north of Dallas and have been pleasantly surprised at the level of courtesy 99% of drivers show me. I get the occasional bunghole who passes close to try and scare me and just this morning an old guy in a Corvette was yelling at me. I couldn't understand him, but I...

Why did you buy make and model?

I was gonna order a Rad Rover for my wife last weekend, but they were out of stock. So I bought a Juiced Ocean Current instead.

    Goggles that fit over eyeglasses?

The eyewear store where you get your normal prescription glasses probably offers a safety goggle that can be made to your Rx. I've worked with several guys that had corrective safety eyewear.

    cross current s question(s)

Yeah, you're gonna want to upgrade the cassette anyway, so the ten speed conversion makes sense. I did without the chain pliers by using two small flat head screwdrivers and squeezing them together.

Ebikes aren't cheap; Cheaper than monthly Rx's and Gym Membership

I came for the fun and stayed for the exercise. Riding my ebike to work only takes a few minutes more than driving my car, so I magically get two, thirty minute workouts a day while giving up very little of my leisure time. And money. My ebike will pay for itself easily in a couple of years of...

First Battery Use: Drain It Entirely?

One vote up for Mikey's answer. Lithium ion batteries don't have the memory effect of older tech batteries. Avoid deep discharging, it's stressful on the cells.

Report of my first 4000 miles on a CCS (also my first 5 months of owning it)

These Bafang motors have a reputation for being tough, if a bit noisy. I think you could reasonably expect several thousand miles on one, based on what I've read around this forum. I'm thinking I'll disassemble mine for inspection, cleaning and lubrication if I ever manage to wear the back tire...

    cross current s question(s)

The K edge won't stop the chain from bouncing off to the right. I hoped it would, but no luck. A narrow-wide front sprocket will help, but it didn't solve my problem entirely. The chainring guard on my CCS is flat, so mounting it backwards doesn't do anything. I, like a few others on the...

Motor Sounds - breaking in, not breaking down

I tried Fran's method of blipping the brake to make the motor re-engage and I like it better than the stop pedaling method.

Is Bosch off on its speed calculations?

Almost every car and motorcycle speedometer is optimistic by a couple of percentage points. Anyone who reads Road & Track or Cycle World tests has probably noticed this. I figure the manufacturers are choosing off the shelf parts to get as accurate a reading as possible, and choose to err on the...

What are you leaning toward? I have about a thousand miles on my first ebike, I got a cheaper model and it's been a hoot, but now I'm having to upgrade some of the drivetrain parts. If I'd known that I'd love it so much I would have sprung for a higher end model with a top quality derailleur...
