Pre-sales advice: Vado 4.0 for Seattle hills?

I live in Whidbey Island. I’m a 74 year-old woman. I started with a Vado 3 two years ago, and upgraded to a Vado 5 IGH this spring. As far as weight, they are both heavy when I put them on a bike rack, but I can handle both. Bike rack has a ramp feature. The Vado 3 made the hills on the...

Specialized Turbo Vado 5.0 IGH Vs turbo Vado 3 IGH

I have had my Vado 5.0 since mid March. At first I didn’t think it gave me enough power on steep hills. After recalibrating it, it performed much better. Now, after almost 700 miles I find that I am going up hills faster than just after calibration. I would have a very hard time going back to...

Vado 5 IGH problems on steep hill

I recalibrated my bike following the directions in the manual. Before recalibration, I went up the hill at about 5 mph and the motor appeared to struggle a little. After recalibration, I can go up 7 mph and the motor doesn’t struggle at all. The shifting is seamless!!

Vado 5 IGH problems on steep hill

I tend to disagree with Guru. I love my Vado 5.0 IGH. I now have almost 200 miles on it now, much of it on hills. Although at first I was disappointed with how it handled a hill I need to climb regularly near my house (about 12% grade 1/4 mile), I find my IGH performs quite well here. I...

Vado 5 IGH problems on steep hill

I would definitely recommend the small frame. I have about a 29" inseam, and long arms. I have shorter friends that have the small Comos and ride them comfortably. I went out to measure the saddle height. For mr ground to saddle top is 35"..I think it can go as low as 33".

Vado 5 IGH problems on steep hill

Yes to # 1 & 2. 3. I have used Standard, Slow, Slower. When I am riding with my husband, who has a 2020 Vado 3, I usually use Slow or Slower. I find that I have increased physical pedal cadence since I have been riding this bike and tend to ride it at 70. 4. I can change the pedal cadence...

[RESOLVED] (refunded) New Vado 5.0 IGH in the shop, errors galore---updated 4-13-22

So far I have had no errors like GuruUno, thank goodness!!! I have about 130 miles on my IGH so far. It has been on lots of hills. After recalibrating it is performing much better. It now out performs my Vado 3 by a little on long steep hills and a lot on short steep hills. Most of my...

Vado 5 IGH problems on steep hill

After recalibrating the bike, the hill was a little better. I was able to get up the hill at 7mph and the motor did not waver. However, that equals the power of a regular 2020 Vado 3. I still am hoping for more support from the Vado 5 even if it is an IGH. The rest of my 13 mile ride was...

Vado 5 IGH problems on steep hill

I also received a suggestion from Specialized Support that I should recalibrate the Enviolo with no instructions as how to do so. I was told that it was an option in the Mastermind control, and cannot find it. I don’t believe that support knows how to support this bike. I have read the entire...

Vado 5 IGH problems on steep hill

The picture does look like my hill. So the Vado 5 IGH does not gear as low as my Vado 3? I would really like to talk to someone at Specialized who knows the Vado 5 IGH well.

Vado 5 IGH problems on steep hill

I have had my Vado 5 IGH for about 2 weeks. It’s a beautiful red step through!!!. I now have about 85 miles on the bike, flat and hills. It replaces my 2020 Vado 3. I have easily adjusted to the automatic gear changes, in fact, I never want to go back. However, I do have a serious issue with...
