Why do the top manufacturers embrace 36 volt/ 250 watt power systems?

Over on EMTB it seems the go to for reliability is a tighter 10 speed Deore cassette (11-36) rather than the 11 or 12 speed with a dinner plate low gear.

Why do the top manufacturers embrace 36 volt/ 250 watt power systems?

That was no wind gust......that was linklemming overtaking you ;). On a serious note......my new mass produced chinese built middle weight bike (circa 25kgs) doesn't budge - solid as a rock and so smooth compared to my lighter Scott analogue bike.

Why do the top manufacturers embrace 36 volt/ 250 watt power systems?

I'm of the view more volts = more performance. Whether or not it's needed/desired/legal is another thing. Comparing like for like - take a 48 volt equipped ebike and throw in a 52 volt battery - come back and tell what your findings are. Plenty of evidence around to suggest a performance boost...

    smaller tyres

Late to the conversation. I recently picked up my first ebike (hardtail mtb style) and had the dealer switch out the standard Schwalbe Smart Sam's 28/29x 2.35 for Marathon Plus's in 28 x 1.75 (47-622) since I was riding on paved surfaces on my daily commute to/from work in the CBD. In the head...

    G’day From WA (Australia)

Thanks for the welcomes fella's :). Being heavier, the ebike rides smoother compared to my Scott sportster "leg power" bike, not doubt helped by the larger volume Marathon Plus tyres. Loving the bike so far and blown away by the performance. I actually went in to the bike shop to purchase a...
