isn’t it funny how a 50k car which can easily kill or maim people when operated incorrectly costs $80/mo to insure and a 10k bike which can hardly do much damage to anyone but yourself costs $40/mo?!?!?

Can One order Garmin Varias on 2022 Turbo Vado 4.0?

seems very unlikely that garmin would have engineered a completely different communication protocol for the wired varias, since most all bike head units / controllers have ANT+ and/or BTLE! but let us know what you discover those pins do. the integration i looked at was just DC power.

    Dutch Police not messing about.

you should never feel good about yourself for having shopped at walmart, no matter how fine a physical specimen you are compared to your co-shoppers 😂😂😂

my experience on creo 1, depends on the section of the carbon wheels. with anything other than a very deep (aero) section, well designed light carbon rims will be more compliant. the terra clx with quality 32-38mm tubeless (GP5000 tr s etc!), for example!

i know what you mean! i sold my creo today, lots of reasons but basically, it was the right bike for me a few years ago but not any more. but soooo many amazing miles and memories, and it got me back into cycling, hard. bittersweet at best. but better that someone ride it.

    Enviolo or Rohloff?

sorry stefan, but you are incorrect. your first bullet point “this cannot happen” is factually wrong, regardless of what charts you agree or disagree with. it can, and does happen, as the basic math and physics dictates. motors produce different amounts of torque at different speeds. some make...

    Enviolo or Rohloff?

stefan, it doesn’t matter exactly what motor, or how outdated the chart is. the simple fact is that even modern electric motors don’t produce exactly the same amount of torque at different speeds. obviously you’d have to agree that if a motor produces 100nM at 75rpm it is unlikely to also...

    Enviolo or Rohloff?

all these motors generate nearly the same peak torque / but at very LOW rpm. since power = torque x RPM, measured at the chainring, tell me which motor has the highest power? i’m sure you can see that they are not the same.

    Enviolo or Rohloff?

no, you’re not getting my point. one e-bike with 50nm peak torque torque may generate that torque at high RPM, and thus be capable of accelerating from, say, 25 to 26 mph, at 100rpm at the chainring. another e-bike, with the same tires and in the same gear, may NOT be capable of accelerating at...

    Enviolo or Rohloff?

it’s certainly possible to have the same power, but different torque, since the torque produced can vary by RPM. motor A produces 100nM at 100RPM. that’s approximately 1000w. at 50RPM it only produces 80nM. peak power is at 100 RPM. motor B produces peak torque of 200nM at 50RPM, that’s...

Scott Solace 20 eRide after 3 Months

scott put a lot of work into the x20 bikes, as one of the launch integrators and a deep collaboration with mahle. my guess is they then hedged their bets on somewhat similar mid drive bikes (to the point that it creates some customer confusion) and didn’t invest as much with TQ. that said, i’ve...

To the "Karens", and the "Carls" out there😂 Those riding dirty too.

exactly. lots of people ride bikes here for utility purposes, and probably 75% have a derailleur, another 20% an IGH of some sort, and 5% are single speed or fixies ridden by the young and generally very strong.

Upgrading Vado SL Shimano Drivetrain From 10 to 12-speed

are you sure about the spacing for 11s? i have an sram cassette on my GRX creo and the shifting is perfect. careful visual inspection didn’t show any difference in spacing. or are you talking 10s to 11s? i do use SRAM chains with SRAM cassettes, and in this case a wolf tooth chainring but all...

    Creo Upgrades and Modifications

i’m a fan of backpacks, since i dislike attaching anything unnecessary to a bicycle, but physics disagrees with this statement. whether the weight is on your back or the bike frame, you still need to accelerate it and lift it up a hill against the force of gravity. where the weight is located...

2022 Turbo Vado pedal torque specs

you often wont find a torque spec for pedals because they tighten themselves as you pedal, that’s why one of them is backwards, I’ve seen numbers from 30-40 nm for pedals, but there’s really no point. just crank it tightly with a wrench that has more than a few inches of leverage and you’ll be...

Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

hawaii’s e-bike law is actually pretty unusual - it basically says class 1 allowed everywhere bikes are, they have to be registered with honolulu, you have to be 18 to register, but a 15+ year old can ride it if it’s registered to a family member.

Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

consensus and/or the constitution dictates appropriate, i’d say. and kids on motor vehicles on public roads / sidewalks = not appropriate by just about any reasonable standard. off in the woods or a jump park or whatever, sure. they’ll only hurt themselves. i did enough crazy/reckless/dumb sh**...

Total e-bike ban after a fatality in Key Biscayne, FLA

why the heck do kids in key biscayne, Florida, (average elevation, 5 feet above sea level. high point, 10 feet above sea level) need e-bikes? wherever the actual fault here in this tragic occurrence is (parents and the non-helmet-wearing-adult) this kind of thing is just not necessary. it will...
